I think the trick to getting ski movies cheap is not actually owning them but renting them.
Here are a few of my tricks: TotalVid.com - kinda sloppy system but you can download films for a couple bucks and they have a pretty large selection iTunes - only a handful but at $2 they are all very much worth watching NetFlix - its the older stuff but still relatively cheap to get them mailed to you.
If you want a real physical copy its usually cheapest from the producer as then they don't have to support a middle man (sorry all you good shops out there, :-( ). Also pre-ordering the films is also usually cheaper then getting them when they come out as the companies are usually the most broke right before their film is released and are ready for some cash.
