Cool assignment for class, looking for ideas.

So I'm taking this class called Deviance & Identity which explores "abnormal" behavior like drug use and prostitution and peoples' reasons for choosing these alternative lifestyles. We started learning about social norms last class so our first assignment is to do something deviant, but not illegal, in or around Burlington VT and write about what happens. She suggested shit for people who are socially anxious, like wearing two different shoes. I, on the other hand, think this is the sweetest assignment I've gotten in... God knows how long, so I want to do something outrageous. Who knows when I'll be asked to do this again?

I was thinking of wearing a shirt that says something ridiculous like "Against Abortion. For Killing Babies" and claiming I belong to a religion that disagrees with abortion solely to acquire babies because baby sacrifice is the only true way to happiness. It could be pretty funny, but I feel like some crazy Feminazi will shank me, besides the fact that it's not really as clever or obnoxious as I'm looking to be. I have no boundaries for what I'm willing to do, and after the deed is done I will update this thread (possibly with video). Thanks!

Not extreme enough. And when I said I had no boundaries, I thought it was implied that running around naked would still kinda be outside my boundaries.

someone actually sort of said something liek this to me today. "someone should cut their moustache into like a hitler one or whatever and wear a shirt with a star of david on it or something". i think that would get people talking but you could get in trouble for that maybe idk

bahahahaha, I thought about that and think it would be hilarious.

I had something like this for a project once. We went into a grocery store, and we would like take milk out of people's carts and put them into my own, but make sure that they were like right next to you when you do it, and exclaim "ohhh, this is where they keep the milk".  We got it on film and it was fucking hilarious.  Some people just like let it go, others kinda freaked out, one guy said that we were stealing from him and was going to call the cops. WE had to explain that it was just a school project and that he should calm the fuck down. Plus, it wasn't his milk yet anyway.

Haha, definitely doing this. I think I'm gonna do a bunch of shit, just break every social norm I can think of (fromyourstruly's idea... I think that's his name). Stare people down, talk obnoxiously loud on my cell phone about innappropriate topics, run airplanes around couples on Church Street, light up a cigarette next to children or in elevators, etc... all in the most thugged out, stupid-ass outfit I can find and (obviously) in front of a camera. If I can find a clean bong I'm gonna do tobacco rips out of it in front of people, but I'll definitely add the ski one in, that would be pretty hilarious.

Fight Club reference: go around picking fights with people. That is, try to provoke them into starting a fight with you. Do it legally, by insulting their family members, throwing things in their general direction, spitting at their feet, blocking their way, and generally being a huge tool. You could even try some racism. Basically, try to ruin as many peoples' days as humanly possible.

If you do the walking around the street in ski gear idea you have to get an old pair of skis and walk with them on it might be kinda hard.

bust out all of your old ski gear (goggles, hat, gloves, full winter jacket, pants, etc) and go skiing down a big flight of public stairs - like a subway entrance or something (obviously with no snow).  do this during rush hour on a 75 degree day.  im pretty sure you'll get some looks.
