Obsethed length?

I am looking to get a pair of obsetheds for the upcoming season but I am wondering which length will work for me at 5'5"?  169 or 179?  Should you ski them longer because of the rocker?

im gonna say 179 would be a bit big for you. I just sold a pair of seths to my friend who is the same height as you and they were just above his head. And even this year the rocker wont make that big of a difference. Depends if you'll be charging a lot but i'd go with the 169s.

I was 5'5" when I bought last year's 169 Seth's and they were too short. They were a second pair, so they didn't have to be my park ski, but after a couple months, I was wishing for the stability and increased powder performance of the 179.

Yeah, their definitely going to be my pow ski, but I'm not charging lines in ak or anything...  BTW I live in Colorado, but often take trips to spots like Jackson Hole.  Another consideration would be that I'm still growing and perfer that they last more than a season....

Wrong. The rocker makes a huge difference. K2 only measures running length, so the "179" measures out to be like 185.

I'm looking at 169 Obsethed for park, but I'm 5 9 like 135 so yeah.

There is a great article written by Shane McConkey in the new Powder Mag about buying the proper size in a rockered ski. He says when you buy a fat ski you should size down. He then says when you buy a rockered ski you should size up according to the amount of rocker. He says full rocker = add 10cm to your fat ski size; medium rocker = add 5cm to your fat ski size; and mini rocker stay the same size. Since you size down about 5cm for a fat ski and size up 5cm for medium rocker you would want the obSETHed in the size of your typical ski. I just got them in a 179 im 5'11 185 (considering its really like a 184).

same question... still wondering because i would get the 179s but they look really big...  also, how do the line elizabeths compare to the obsethed?  or the JJ?

i skied on pair in the park, they ar mad fun. i like the weight and the fatness, i dont even ski on skis that dont have at least a 100mm waist

we have them at work. Just remember that K2 makes thier skis LOOONG.

I.E. the 179 Obsethed = 183 Czar

ok guys stick with the thread...  im rocking these in pow, not park.  im thinking 169 but maybe theyd be to small if i grew at all?
