this is so gay
 alright so first day of school all my other classes are awesome they ssay no homework basicall all semester so im stoked on that but the on that but the only class i dont want to be in which is college level englsih gives me home work the  first day like a whole fucking eassey any ways im supper pissed about it my parents are making me do it even tho im switching out of the fucking class tmo for the universty englsih ( the university class didnt even get homework) anways i just though id share with you guys

im in grade 11 and english is mandatory so u have to chose uni or college level  unless you have learning disablittly then there is a different one, sorry to complain but it just angers me that we got homewokr and the uni class didnt

so wait, you're in grade 11 and they're making you do english. how can they make you do college level english though, i mean, you're not even in college...if you've finished highs school english already, you shouldn't have to do any more english unless you want to. that's besides the fact that pretty much every university course requires no more than an english 20 course completion to register.

most colleges require taking freshman english.

you take ap english in high school and you dont have to take it in college.

english is far from useless.  and business is even further from useless.

let me guess, you take both of those classes.
name any super-successful businessperson you want to, the chances are high that they never took a business class in their life. name any super-successful author you want to, the chances are high that they never took a college or university level english course in their life.
therefore, useless.

hmmm...do you realize the number of lawyers whose undergraduate was english?  if you want to call lawyers making 6 or 7 figures unsuccessful, than i guess we are on a different playing field.

and business classes being useless?  that kind of ignorance gives me headaches.  accountants make no money, huh?  and marketing directors, well theyre lucky to make enough to feed a family!

do you think before you make these statements?

and to answeer your question...im a design major.  hate to burst your bubble, but i have respect for disciplines outside of my own.

wow, lawyers, haha. my friends parents are both lawyers, one of them works for the government, he works cases on murders of police officers and other such matters. he never even graduated high school. he lives in one of the nicest houses in this city. so, uh, yeah, i'm playing in reality and i have no idea what field you're playing on or even what game you're playing.

accountants. my mother is the former president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accounting, basically all the money in oil and gas for all of Canada went through her before it got into anyone elses hands. and she never took a business class. neither did Donald Trump, Richard Branson, or Bill Gates. shoot, i suppose maybe if they had taken a business class though, they might be up to your standards as businesspeople.

thankfully, im not...i just think i have a somewhat firm grasp on the ideals of much of society. 

im proud to say i managed to make it through the entire summer on $80 with no job.  i spent all of my time riding skateboards a bicycles around boston living in a glorified closet, listening to the sonics, billy joel, and king diamond on a boom box from 1998 on the porch of a roxbury apartment. sadly, i dont see myself having a better summer anytime in the future...unless i do the same for the rest of my life.

however, boss hogg up there was referring to college classes when referring to success, thereby referencing carreers reached with said classes, thereby using money as a yardstick to measure success.  to say that business classes are not beneficial to a successful career in accounting or marketing or management or whatever other position you may choose is completely unreasonable.  and english...well, english is beneficial to pretty much any career that involves interracting with people.

that was the only point i intended to make.

all i'm saying is, my 13 year-old sister could pass both english and business in less than 6 months, with flying colours. and she isn't exactly the brightest little girl around. which is why i asked the kid why he would even bother taking english, which is when you jumped on my case and started defending a couple of college courses. you have yet to rationalize any of your arguments for why anyone SHOULD take english or business in college.

i thought it was somewhat self-explanatory...

business class, whether it be economics, accounting, even the ever-present "intro to business" seen across the board for the majority of undeclared college students who are unsure of their own future plans.  the reason that this class is recommended to students is because it gives them a solid platform to pursue any number of carreers.  and if a student goes into school with intentions of doing anything business-related, then these classes can greatly improve their chances of doing so successfully.  and at the very least, the extensive vocabulary gained from the reading of pre-19th century literature can extensively increase your ability to get a job in any high-paying, high-consequence field, simply by being able to speak intelligently.  theres a reason that school require freshman english, as an attempt ensure a students ability to presently themselves professionally and knowledgeably.

the world has changed quite a bit since today's "successful" people have been in school.  a far larger percentage of people are attending college, therefore putting much more importance of majors such as business or english.  if you are well-taught in both of these fields, the possibilities are nearly endless as far as job opportunities go.

the working world is nothing like what it was like, even ten years ago.  anything helps in this day and age,  and if its having taken courses like business or english, then potential employers will immediately recognize that you can communicate well with clients and investors alike based solely on these credentials.
