Migraines

I used to get them all the time. Then I figured out that they happen more frequent when i leave my contacts in. So if you wear contacts take them out and just lay down for a bit with your eyes closed, like 30 mins to an hour and after that I normally only have a small headache and am good to go. Migraines do suck though.

Take an Excedrin. The caffeine in it helps.

history of them in my family. My aunt, sister and cousin get them. my cousin gets them to the point where he starts throwing up. The best thing to do when you feel one coming on is to go do something to get your mind off of it. ive found that ive been able to keep my sister from having one by distracting her she feels one coming on.  i would also get off the computer if i were you. im not an expert, but i dont think it could help.

they can actually give you a surgery now that takes removes a nerve muscle in your brain responsible for triggering headaches. It doesn't always work, but usually does remove the migranes.

the contacts could be part of it because they were a little dry when I took them out as I showered with them on. I've been trying to figure out whats causing them by looking for patterns, but it's tough because I feel like it's all different. some days I wake up, chill around the house and get one.. but other days I do a lot of stuff.
yeah, I'm definitely getting an over the counter medicine asap and visiting the doctor soon after.
I'll try out the distraction thing too, and I'm gonna lie down in a minute so it's all good.
surgery sounds sketch at this point only because they're not terrible like some peoples, but they hurt and are an annoying time waster. they def. suck man.










[you don't really have to read this part but I figure it will help me remember so I'm putting it here- feel free to comment if you like]

Lets see.. today I woke up after a decent sleep of 8ish hours, had blueberry poptarts and iced coffee, got mad excited for the waves we just got and surfed for 2 hours. maybe physical stress causes it? or lack of oxygen from hold downs which were a bitch today? got home and showered, listened to some loud music.. maybe a cause too? and got it awhile later. I'm also thinking bright lights trigger it, but how can I know to not go outside.. after that I had chicken nuggets, a corndog, chocolate, and salt water taffy to see if it would help or hurt me.

Yeah i totally know what you mean, they blow. I get them really badly. I have blacked out before because of them. I talked to my doc and he gave me some medicine that you take right when you feel them coming on and it works wonders, you might consider talking to your doctor? For me, excedrin doesn't do anything. But drink some caffeine and lay down somewhere dark it should help a bit.

I used to get them every 3 month, like on the date! They were really bad, it would start with the thing with the eye you were talking about, then major headache, then throwing up, then one side of my body would get paralyzed and I was unable to speak, which was so horrible, because the words I was thinking in my head were not the words that would come out of my mouth, so I was unable to tell anyone if I needed anything. So after like 2 years of getting these every 3 month, I went to the doctor and he said that it could be because of too much sugar and too much sleep. I wasn't really eating much sugar, so I just began sleeping less and I haven't had one since

I used to get them, a lot of the time you will grow out of them. My mom had what you had, she would go like temporarily blind too. Take some Aleve and go to sleep. And check out an ear pressure point person, that actually helped me a ton

wooooow that's intense, and same with the blacking out with the kid above.! that must have been awful, seriously I can't imagine. mine are no where near that bad, normally my headaches just suck, but I don't seem to have many other intense symptoms after the eye thing. nausea a bit sometimes. I do plan on talking to my doctor really soon about this, which is why I'm trying to figure out causes so I can hopefully be better diagnosed/ helped.   is caffeine supposed to help or hurt?
so after I got off NS before I hopped in bed in my sorta dark room which was quiet, luckily, because no one was home and I slept for a half hour. I only felt a little headache and I'm cool now.. so maybe there is something to the food and water I consumed? either way I'm pretty happy right now that it hasn't gotten worse.

wait, what about the ear pressure? that could be something too.. I had swimmers ear for awhile and got it around that time and just today while I was in the water I kept on diving under waves over and over and the same ear felt a lot of pressure. could that have to do with it?

Did you drink any water before surfing?
If you didn't, a combination of dehydration and accidentally drinking salt water could give mad headaches and nausea.

If you feel like vomiting, go for it. Blow chunks, then drink gatorade, then you'll probably feel better.

ooh and get some motrin in you.

I got diagnosed with migraine a month ago today i think but ive had it over a year. I can feel when its coming and my left eye (on some bad occasions) goes completely blind which is followed by a bad headache for a couple of days. Fucking doctor just told me to keep a diary and try to work out the trigger. I always sketch out really bad when i lose my sight cause i think it wont come back its horrible and no one seems to care lol :( owell im a bad person. I feel for anyone with this its a real nusience.

hey, yeahh i get really bad migraines, but thankfully not often. so bad that during my summer exam times i was on beta blockers which are heart tablets that restricted and regulated blood flow to my brain to stop the onset of a migraine. Previous to the beta blockers i had to be on for a month or so during exams i contracted a migraine whilst in an exam and had to be taken out and put into a secure room where i wasnt allowed to speak to anyone and slept abit of the migraine off before being escorted back to the exam room where i had missed all of 5 mins of the exam and was stuck in this masive hall all by myself and an invigulator! NOT GOOD, still got an A so not complaining but it was dreadful at the time.

Very similar onset reactions to migraines to yours too. Can feel them coming on, as blurred vision occurs either left or right top corner of my sight, in a strip that slowly gets larger and larger in the space of around 15 mins when it can span accross my whole sight and everything just dances around and cannot see full stop! but tend to grab tablets as quick as before it gets that stage either that or attempt to sleep through it. Then after blurred vision dissappears you start with huge thumps and throbs of blood rushing to the back of your head, flowing through your main artery to your brain or should i say not flowing through correctly thus the migraine! I am always physically sick with mine, usually the case with alot of people as i read with you guys. Can last anything upto 24 hours mine personally but my mum on the other hand can last 3 to 4 days but never experienced any of the blurred vision or sickness just strong pulsations to the head.

I would take a diary of everything you eat and drink on a daily basis and especially taking note on the days previous and on the day of onset migraines as they are trigger related. be it stress, dehydration, alcohol, food (bananas, marmite, oranges, chocolate, nutella... all being very high on the trigger count) i have lowered my chances of getting migraines through this note taking of what your body intakes previous to triggering migraines, they are such an awful experience that you dont want another.

Anyway i have rambled far too much, i wish you all the best with figuring out what trips your body into migraines. and lets hope we find a miracle cure that stops them alltogether.

but for the meantime, perscribed 600mg ibuprofens do the trick x 2

oh and p.s stay away from caffeine! worst thing you could possibly do when you think your getting a migraine and even a short while after getting rid of it.

oh, forgot to mention. i do think there is a connection with physical exertion and dehydration with migraines. i rarely get them, but when i do it'
s after working out/running or just a long exhausting day.

well if it makes you feel better, i've had a migraine-type headache for 3 months.  really stiff neck, dizzy, trouble balancing, pressure in the sinus area, clogged ears, shit won't go away at ALL.  this summer straight up sucked.  i've seen 23 doctors and had sooo many tests ran on me.  MRI's, CT's, Bloodwork, Spinal Tap (OUCH) i'm going to look into getting a migraine preventative.   a never ending headache is just the absolute worst and I don't wish this shit upon anyone.

Im pretty sure I might have the record for the world's longest migraine at over a year. (my neurologist told me it was 3 months). Previos to the over year long one, I had one for 4 months. It's not terrible pain the entire time, sometimes it was fucking horrible, other times I could barely tell it was there, but I could feel the distinct one sided pain in my head and shit.


But other than that, I used to get them everyday, then I found a medication that finally worked for me. It went from basically everyday, to 4 a week, to 1 or 2 every 2 weeks. Ill talk more about this shit later. But migraines suck, so do auras.

i used to get migraines when i was in middle school about. i remember they'd get triggered by eating sweets or if i had a gymnastics meet the next day. i missed school and comps from it but they went away. now i just get ocular migraines and vertigo sometimes.

try popping 2 or 3 advil when you feel one coming on. that might help
