most goggles fog when you hike, not enough air is going through the vents. take them off and put the in your coat. not on top of your head, they'll fog more.

Mine never fog while on my face, but if I am wwearing a hat and put them up on my forehead, they will become unusable very quickly.

That'll probably just make it worse. If they're around your neck and you're already making them fog when they're on your face, they'll do it more because you'll be breathing into them if they're on your neck. Get some sunglasses like _serious said, and put the goggles in your jacket. Don't worry about breaking them. You probably won't ever fall hiking, and if you do, it takes some force to break them.

when i say hiking, i mean east coast hiking, as in climbing back up the hill to hit the same rail again

In that case, it's your fault. You're in bad shape or something and working enough apparently to start sweating and fog your goggles. And if that is all you're doing, why would you worry about falling and breaking your goggles?
