All right, so within the next week I am going to buy my first camera for this winter. Since the searchbar sucks, I wasnt able to find that many good threads that gave me the info i wanted. Alright so basically I want you guys to recommend me some cameras based on what you think is best.
I am not sure what format to get whether it be MiniDV or flash as from experiance I do not know whats best.
I am willing to spend up to $600 no more
I am most likely thinking of buying from bhphotovideo.com but if you guys have any different suggestions then I am open for that.

i seriously think its worth spending a little bit more and buying the hv20...with the hd technology now, you're quality will be much better.

I agree, but only go HD if you have a fast enough computer to handle it.

You'd have to have a computer from like 1999 for it not to be able to handle it.

Look at the Canon Consumer HD line, such as the Canon HV20. Also, you'll want to run Sony Vegas Pro 8 along with it to be able to edit the footage since only Vegas is able to edit AVCHD footage at this time... So hit me up if you need a pirated version, because i'll find you the version that can actually handle AVCHD footage.

im pretty much confirming what the other people have been saying...
but if you want a good, non-hd camera, go for the panasonic pv-gs500, if you do want a cheap (price, not quality) hd camera, go with the canon hv20 or maybe the hv30
but i would definitely suggest going miniDV, and not a HDD cam (hard disc drive) becasue their usually written in different codecs and shit, so you'll have to do a lot more work to upload the footy than you might think
