Vid camera help PLEASE!!

Hello!!!

ok so i have a JVC Everio....so my problem with it is i got a fish eye lens for it...well my sis got it for me for my birthday. and it came with a ring adapter thing to attach it. it works all well and good. but now the ring that attaches it is stuck on my camera. i cant get it off. i have tried to get i off, my dad had tried, i dont know what else to do. i have other lenses that fit that i haven't been able to use. and i have been forced to leave the fish eye on all the time so that the lens doesn't get scratched.

any ideas on how to get this stupid ring thing off without ruining my camera or the lens would be awesome!!

Try twisting it off with as little pressure as possible.  The more pressure you put on the ring the more it flexes thus making it harder to unthread it.  Happened to me once so i took a thick rubber band, wrapped around the ring tight and twisted.  Same idea as a strap wrench.

if you have some sort of grippy plastic matt, put the matt on the table, then push down (not much) and twist, see if that works.

thanks guys. i tried doing it as light as possible....its on there good. so then i tried the elastic thing...still nothing.

im looking for some sort of a sticky plastic mat to try....im off to search my house for something.

thank you both for trying...i appreciate it.....

ne other ideas?

the threads on the camera itself could be stripped so it might be better to just leave it on if you can deal with it.

tso if they are stripped and i get it off...im screwed....if i leave it on and deal with it...then i just need to buy a new lens cap...and a new set of filters....so lets see here

stripped....gonna cost me.....a new camera
leave it on....gonna cost me....o about 20 for new stuff to fit on

i think im gonna leave it alone

ive tired everything.......shoe, mouse pad, duct tape, rubber band, trying to unscrew it very very gently, trying to unscrew it very very hard....so i think im ok with it being stuck.....

You said it yourself. That would be the problem...

But as for getting the ring off, the only suggestion i could offer would be to try to turn it the tight way before trying to loosen it. That might break it free. Dunno though. Good luck!

WD 40 is a bad bad bad idea

Twisting it the wrong way to try to "break it free" is also bad

there is no clear cut way of getting it off safely try screwing the fisheye back on to the adaptor SNUG not tight then try to take it off but when you do pull on the fisheye.  and or pull on one side of the fisheye this way you can increas your hold on the front threads and break free the lower thread.  Good luck use good judgment on how much force to use without breaking your adaptor or fisheye.

get some plyers, and grab the lip of the step up ring and twist. You may ruin the step up ring threads, but I'm sure it will come off.
