yah only off cornices and cliffs though, never tried it outside of the powder, but mistys are WAY easier on the trampoline for me at least.
and to Alex_g thats a good point, [claim] i can do any trick on the trampoline except for most doubles[/claim]. so i should probably be able to do it on skis, for example last year i wanted to learn corks on skis because i learned them on tramps the summer before and then i just went for them on skis and after a couple of tries i could do them regularly off this one jump.
You all are correct when you say that misty 5's aren't like front flip 180s. However, learning how to front flip is the best thing you can do when learning a misty 5. the take offs for both tricks (front and misty 5) are extremely similar, where you have to dive out with both arms in front of you on take off. In a frontflip, you hold that extended position that you get in while diving out on taking off. the difference between a front and a misty from that point on is in a misty you roll over your trailing shoulder, keeping your feet from going directly over your head and more over the side.
Misty is definitely one of the most fun tricks on skis, for sure. What's more fun than a misty 7 (other than a backflip)? Nothing!! They're also underplayed lately, you just don't see a lot on big jumps....but yeah it's all about the misty flip all day long
