Good base layers

The title says it all I need some good base layers that will keep me warm. What are some good brands, I was thinking under armor, or maybe sessions what do you guys use or like.

never dude! use icebreaker, this brand comes from New Zeland, is the shit in layer really, they are a bit expensive but theres always web pages like backcountry .com with them on sale, and look for its tecnology and read it, its like a natural termostat, you ll be warm if you need it and youll be cool if its hot, if u suet, it will dry in less than 5 minutes and u can wear it for a month and it wont smell cause is made off a special merino and is not synthetic.

a have like 2 long sleeves and like 5 short sleeves and they are great for trips to cause u dont need to wash them so much, it might sound weird but ull know it when u use them.

oh and for the second layer anything thats made of Polartec is the best thing, the warmest thing ever to.

patagonia. arcteryx makes some mad mid-layers, and good, but not so steezy outerwear. in canada, MECs house brand makes some good stuff at a low price. i have their merino longsleeve top and bottoms as well as a patagonia long sleeve light synthetic layer.

I have a patagonia base layer that's really warm. they come in levels, I think mines a 3.
I also have a 686 base layer I wear a lot thats mad warm. It's also loose and looks like a normal long sleeve shirt so I can wear it on a cold day, and the bottoms fit under my jeans like regular boxers would. sweet shit.

I used wear underarmour, but I couldn't stand the tightness, it never really fit correctly. I've only heard good things about icebreaker, but it's expensive so I've never tried it out.

I have an arc'teryx mid layer fleece which, like said above, is not steezy in the slightest but is very very warm. I wear a base layer top + bottom, a tee, the the fleece and then snowpants+ jacket. works for me, and I get cold easily. could always throw another layer in there if it's really chilly.

I would look at companies that make product for real outdoor stuff like, mountineering, hiking, winter travel, and stuff like that, not just sports like Skiing and snowboarding. Look at brands like Hellyhansen, Northface, Aycterex(sp?) Patagonia, mountain hardwear, and outdoor research. They tend to be much more breathable and light weight while still keeping you warm.

Helly Hansen LIFA Baselayers, both in warm or dry.  Both utilize Polypropylene which is 40x drier than any polyester (which is what almost all other companies use) against your skin, as the drier you stay, the warmer you can effectively stay.  The dry is pure polypropylene, in new sick graphic prints too.

The Warm uses polypropylene against the skin but it is a hollow thread (ala polar bear fur) in order to hold body heat in the thread to keep you warmer against your skin, the top layer of the LIFA warm is merino wool (finest no itch wool), which is one of the thinest/warmest insulations that can be used next to skin without compromising the moisture transfer off the skin.

Icebreaker, end of story. Its biggest advantage is it doesn't hold odours so you can wear one for a week very comfortably. The guy above who says he has like 7 of them has wasted a whole lot of money. Get one short sleeve lightweight and a longsleeve midweight and you;re set.

I can attest to HH Lifa baselayer. Very good stuff.

My favorite is actually EMS's stuff because it is loads cheaper than the competition and works very well.

I have seven of them cause I travel a lot and thats all the wear I take to trips of 3 to 4 months, now if your looking for something just to use arround the week , then yeah just get a nice longsleve and thats it.
