Alright so i recently got a new HV30 shot some test footage connected
my cam to my computer and went to capture it to my computer. this is
when problems started the in sony vegas i selected HDV for capture mode
and it accepted it when i tried to record it would only display a black
preview and just sound, thinking nothing of it i continued then when i
tried to play it it wouldnt let me only displaying an notification that
is couldn't play it asking me if i wanted it to keep the footage but
keep it offline it records in DV just fine and shows up as .avi and I
have a preview. the cam is set to regular HDV mode
is there a software that would just convert it off the tape into a
video format like mpeg, mp4, avi, ect.... then i would just have to
drag those files into vegas?

i know nothing about sony vegas, but i can confirm that it's not the camera's fault since I import HD from my HV30 into Final Cut no problem
