hey all I wanna build a shotgun pvc rail for fall/winter jibs in my back yard.
I was thinking 10-12 feet, 3 pipe wide.
What do I need for supports and are there any good plans out there for one?

I do think a thread was just bumped but here I go...
A shot gun is 2 pipes so you will be making a tripple barrel. You will want to use 3 1" pieces of pvc on either a 2x4 or 4x4...If you choose a 4x4 you wont need as many supports for a 4x4 is very structurally strong as is. You won't want to make the rail too tall or you will regret it. for a 10 foot rail (suggested if you can't get any pvc longer...20 feet is made but can typically only be bought through plumbing supply stores. So for a 10 foot rail you will want about 3 or 4 supporsts using 4x4 legs or more using 2x4...every about 12-16 inches with 2x4 leg supports...about every 3 feet with 4x4 leg supporsts with .5 foot on each side open. You will then use diagnol supports down to 2x4s that are perpendicular to each of the 4x4 supports...hope that makes sense. The diagnols are used for structural support and are strictly vital. Then drill holes through pvc so you can put screws in...go for it...hope that helps and is not repetetive

thanks for the help, my step dad who's a carpenter is helping me with the actual building (sawing and shit).
I have a 12 foot 2x8 with two 2 1/2 inch pvc pipes for the top. The supports are made out of 2x4s, two put together for the main beam, a 3 foot piece for the bottom, and two diaganol supports. I'll post pics in the post a pic thread when I'm done.
Just another question, what do I need to do to maintain in between now and first snowfall (no turf ramp yet)
