Xmas skiing

im trying to plan a trip out west for the winter, but i want to know which resort(s) has the most snow/best skiing in late dec. early jan...i was leaning towards keystone/breck, but im open to anything except park city and lake tahoe since ive already been there before....++ karma for help.

Depends on what you want to ski, can never go wrong with whistler though no matter what you are looking for, except small crowds I guess lol~

Come ski near me! i live in Carbondale witch is near Aspen and anyway although Aspen is expensive to visit and stay you don't have to stay there to ski. You can just stay in Carbondale and catch a bus up in the morning to a choice of four different sick mountains Ajax, Highlands, Buttermilk( where the X-games are held so if you came after winter x you can ride the park made for the event),and Snowmass.

im looking for more big mountain skiing, good tree skiing, if a mtn doesn;t have a great park thats not a problem..im going with my family too so i have to keep that in mind.

steamboat = just right for you.  lots of snow and tree skiing.  plus its only like 2 hrs from key/breck, so you could go there if you wanted.

there arent really ski areas in boulder or denver....closest good ones are keystone/a-basin/breck...

Come up to Alyeska in AK. We had 1,300" last December. We would get 6' of fresh snowfall overnight!

Are the short days a problem? Seems like it might limit your ski time. Someone also told me it was always freezing ass cold, but the website said avg temp was 20 in january, which is cold for washington but doesnt seem that bad heh~

short days are not a problem since you can night ski pillow lines in the trees until 9:00 PM. It doesn't get too cold either; like -10 F at the coldest, but of course there have been abnormal days where it is -20 but those are rare. I ski in a shell jacket and pants and I keep nice and warm.

alright, i dont know if im slow or something but it says on alyeskas site the average snowfall per year is 742'' at the top and the record is 1100''. so, wheres that 1300'' coming from?

well early jan on the 5th last year whistler got 78cm in 48 hrs... so id say come to whistler

average is 742", but total record (including base) was in the low 1300's. the site must be wrong because at the top they have a ginormous ruler and it was in the 1300's.

deff come to the interior but not really any of the resorts you listed nomen are considered the interior. maybee revelstoke but deffintaly not whitewater, KH or fernie.

interiors more like Apex, Big White, Silver Star and Sun Peaks.
