yeah so this is gonna be long but here it is. I was gonna leave for mammoth for the winter this week with a friend of mine, but his car(the one we were gonna drive) now needs work and its gonna be $500 which is like all the money he had to go to mammoth, so i could still go by myself but id have to fly for like $300 in all. I already have a job and a place there. This car shit got me thinking about staying though, if i stay, i can almost definately have a patrol job at mount snow, and it would be easier to apply to school for next year because my high school and mother would be right here, and theres a lot of sweet events at mount snow this year and i could get a sweet camera with the money i saved up for mammoth, and a friend of mine just built this sick starting ramp for a table hes building in his backyard(the ramp is like 60 feet long at like a 45 degree slope and the table is gonna be made with a bucket loader he has) and finally if i went to mammoth i wouldnt know anyone really even though i was there last year but all my friends are here plus a few other things, but if i go, mammoth, which is so sick and it would be a sweet time too, and id probably get more skiing time and mammoth you know? so i dunno what im gonna do, and my question is what would you do if you were in my position?

I'd chill out for a bit. mt.snow is less expensive, the cost of living in mammoth is expensive, rent out there is expensive. At Snow you already have a bunch of buddies and a place of your own? plus you'll get free lift ticket at snow if you were on patrol.

I would stay, sounds like aside from the east coast small mtns. factor you have a lot of good things going for you here, where as out west-- not so much. And the action of moving is just pricey in general. You'd save money and crap just by staying here and in the end it sounds like it could benefit you more than mammoth would. And some would argue that traveling broadens your horizons, which is true but you've obviously been before and it's not any insanely different scene than here so essentially all you are really getting out of mammoth is good skiing which you can get here not to the same magnitude but when you factor in the other things VT comes out on top.

Fuck staying. You never get anywhere in life without taking chances and dealing with risk. If you like the idea of going to Mammoth, then GO. You'll meet people, the skiing will be better than Mt. Snow, and it's a 'life experience' thing you'll never regret. Fuck the east, you belong out west.

I would go to Mammoth. It sounds like you'll have a great season where ever you are, but to me Mammoth seems to offer more. You have basically lived your whole life skiing Mt. Snow, you have a bunch of good friends, same old good times. You were at Mammoth last winter, you know some people there, but there is so much else there left to discover. Tons of oppertunities to meet new people, tons of different things to do that you haven't been able to do back at home. Sure, Mammoth seems kinda like a risk when everything back at home is going great, but what do you accomplish living the same life you have been living ever year (excluding last winter). I dunno, I'm talking out of my ass, do what you want, I hope that was helpful in the slightest.

dude from your post it sounds like you really want to stay, ya mammoth would be sweet but it just doesnt sound like its going to work out right now you got a lot of good stuff going on at home. just stay there, mammoth is always going to be there(unless it burns down) and the park is just going to get sicker each year you dont go. so chill out at home now life goes fast before you know it in a couple years you will be out there
