Ski length?

181-185.  You're my size and thats what I'm looking to get into.  You could probably even go a bit bigger but you don't want to overdo it

If you're looking into a little softer all mountain/big mountain ski, you can go a little longer.  As long as the ski you're looking at has something to it, I think the 181-185 is the appropriate window.

well i was kind of wondering how long I could go, keeping in mind that it would be my all mntn/bc/big mntn ski, and i would get it to gain stability for straight lining, cliffs, variable snow conditions, pow, etc.  So it seems like 180 or so could be a good minimum for a ski of this type, but what would be a good point to stop at?  keep in mind i have 174 for park and they feel pretty short when i have em at speed and in the steep and deep

anyone else?

For big mountain type riding at your weight you should be looking at something around 190.  Any ski in a 180 will not give you stability regardless of how burly it is; extra length is your friend when you're going fast through crud and off cliffs.  What ski in particular are you looking at, and where do you usually ride? 

right now i'm looking at a bunch of skis and haven't narrowed it down.  I'm hopping to eventually have a 2-4 ski quiver, 4 would be ideal, but 2-3 if i had 1 or both of the skis doing double duty.  Basically i want to have 4 categories filled: a narrower softer-medium flexing ski for park (have 174 fs wrs right now for that), all mntn ski for doing everything one one day park, pow, trees, groomers, etc, pow jib ski something like bacons, bibby pros etc, and then big mntn ski.  i don't do any big mntn skiing right now but i hope to get into it, i was looking at big mntn skis mainly becuase they have stability of length and a stiff flex for going fast which i do a lot, and they are great for variable condtions.  So basically i was looking to get either an all mntn ski or a big mntn ski.

for all mntn i was looking at 185 arv, 185 brigade or S5, 180 tahoe, 181 1080 gun, 179 prophet 100, 183 gotama, 182 vct, 179 obsethed, 178 older jjs, 182 m1

for big mntn and basically for right now just a more stable ride that can punch through anything i was looking at 190 ehp, 191 ant, 189 obsethed, 186 prophet 100, 189 vct, 190 gotama, 182 czar, 188 1080 gun, 188 jj, 188 tahoe, 192 m1

basiacally i want either an all mntn ski, or a big mntn ski that handles well all mntn and can handle variable conditions, terrains, and speed

again i'm 5'10 175-180 lbs and ski fast and aggressive

the 190 ehps are actually supposed to be very nice, and they have a much more progressive sidecut than the 191s which makes them a better all mountain ski too.

Ive ridden the prophets and they feel super nice underfoot, and the metal matrix gives them crazy stability when ploughing through crud.

Ive also heard great things about the fat-y-pus skis, but i dont know if youre looking to go with something that wide

Personally my choice would be the jj's though, i rode those and thought they were amazing as an all mountain quiver, and in all honesty i hate most of armadas product. Anything youve listed is a good choice though.

yeah basically i'm looking for 95-110 underfoot, medium to stiff flex, something that can handle everything from groomers, to pow,to crud, spring corn, dust on crust, boilerplate, etc and that can handle steep faces, trees, and the straight lining. 

I'm definitely considering a 190ish ski now, i think at 5'10 and 175-180 i can handle it, hopefully by winter i'll be a bit lighter, put some weight after having surgery and not being able to do anything, but even then at a min i'll be 140 and more likely 150-170. 

I think the 185 arv would be a good choice for you. They're a fairly stiff ski. They're also short enough for to be able hit crud and moguls, but also long enough to charge.
