1, 3, &4 I like the best. I would add 5 into that mix but there is something missing in it and I don't know what. 2, &6 are too flat. Did you use a filter on 4, the water looks like its got a soft flow to it.

I actually like the hay one...but the DOF is whats killing you.  The detail on the bail in the foreground is distracting.  The motion blur on the falling hay is good.  Maybe if you had framed it portrait style.  Cut the bail out...  like this crop.

Dont be afraid to turn the camera sideways.  the vertical lines of the building and falling hay contrasted with the bail in the bottom left.

Otherwise.  I like #1 alot.  Your slow shutter of the stream is really nice too.  The light looked like it was perfect.  its hard to do those without getting harsh shadows and blown out space.  You look like you know what you are doing.  Just keep shooting.

The reason I chose to have the bales in front sharp was so they'd contrast with the falling bale. I do think your crop helps the picture a lot though...not as much dead space.

And I know I don't shoot too many verticals, maybe when I get a grip that'll change...

3.1. great start-but IMHO i like the grisly toned beard look, kind of crisp whisker look, but it deff a good shot to work with

2. You could do a better crop with this one, use the rule of thirds for one of the windmills and crop the other one out

3.one of my fav, just because you can really see the raw emotion, in their faces, and the postures towards each other, really sends a message, and great use of Dof, really works nicely

4.can't really say anything negative about this shot, although it might be a tad bit busy, but i love long exposures, especially rivers, great forest atmosphere.

5. doesn't do much for me, the hay(which somepeople might like) is distracting, but its an interesting shot non-the-less

6. shot, isn't crisp enough, and your subject( i assume your focusing on the house/barn) doesn't really stand out, and rather than have it dead centre, use some compositional techniques.

Good stuff though, can't wait till you have more, any questions about my critiques hit me up with a pm and ill try explain myself better

Thanks for the in-depth critique man. I definitely appreciate it, and agree with everything you commented on.

I'm still really up in the air about the last shot though. It is, in fact, quite sharp. Someone just told me they really like it, especially the composition. I still feel that something about it just isn't right. Kinda feel like the lighting wasn't quite there. Maybe a wide angle with more foreground would have given it more depth, too. Unfortunately I can't go back and try this shot again-- the corn's much taller and the leading lines have all but disappeared.

But I guess there's always next year for round 2.
