Feedback on JP vs. Juliens/Alternatives

idk bout the new redesigned jj cause no ones ridden them yet. but all the previous years are so bomb. i love mine. and if light is what your lookin for there it. my 188s are lighter than my park skis. they kill it.

I think suface is making the live lifes in a 189 size this season. stiff enough to bust through crud as well as floating on pow

I am looking for a ski like that too, I was thinking either JJs, Obseteds, or czars, I just want to wait till some people review them.

i think the JJ's are what your looking for.

however if your looking for another possible option i'de suggest obsethed's, seth's ski's always rip all over the mountain and with the extra width and mini-rocker you'll get that extra float in pow

2 great options for what you are looking for would be the Volkl Katana and the Armada JJ. I got to ski the new JJ this spring in variable conditions and it was sick. It not only did well in corn, crud, and powder, but when you were skiing groomers it really was extremely versatile. With both a cap and sidewall construction in one the '09 JJ makes a great sidecountry/backcountry/resort rocker ski. The lengths are 175cm and 185cm and they measure closer to 173cm and 183cm.

The Volkl Katana was also an awesome ski with zero camber and a powder channel for easy turning in deeper snow. The Volkl Katana is another ski at 110mm in the waist that skis more like a ski at 80mm. It turns on a dime and at the same time you can rock huge GS turns with them and with the 2 sheets of titanol you do not have to worry about edging.

I would also consider the Moment Bibby too man, same width in the waist for the float, I would imagine slightly stiffer under foot too. The all regular sidecut can be read either way but is known as reliable and will work brilliantly everywhere. A lot of people that rides moment end up using this ski the most...

I would also put money on it being lighter than the JJ too.

Whichever ski you go for though, jesters are a must for lightness and durability.

Been looking at the bibby and JJs specifically now, and I bet id be happy with either, but if anyone has ridden both and would like to share their thoughts thatd be killer. Seems like they would both kill it in the pow and crud, and the main difference would come in weight and groomer performance. Thoughts?

Also, the Bibby is going to be cheaper. $550 on jibij/moment and I imagine the JJ to be 7/800.

It's going to be a sweet decision either way.

if you are looking for lighter then the JJ is the right direction, very fun in pow and poppy whenevery you need it, and riding switch onthe JJ is so easy, the '07/'08 and earlier have the tail turned up 10mm higher than the tip to make it easier popping around to switch and just riding switch, the new JJ '09  floats even more in pow being 115mm under foot wherethe old one is 103 under foot, with the different deminsions it skis really well on groomers even with the rocker, you have it all in this ski, rocker for pow, and butters, explosive through crud and pop over anything
