Worst two weeks of skiing ever (death and near death)

skier_chick13  died skiing this past season. 

she is my best friend. great skier. turned her head for 2 seconds to make sure the kid was still following her and within seconds her life ended. she ran into a tree and died instantly. she was wearing a helmet. she is greatly missed.

the very next week i broke my back, shattered both bones in my right knee, tore three ligaments in my right knee, screwed up my right hand, bruised my ribs and lungs pretty bad.

im not sharing this because i want you to feel sorry, just want to remind everyone how precious life really is.  i wish i could have seen her one more time. dont take for granted what you have and love. it could all be gone within seconds

Skiing has its risk, and i think we should all know the dangers,i think we all do know the dangers. Remember, you dont have to be doing extreme dangorous stuff to get hurt, it can happen anywhere.

hopefully you recover well.

a good friend of mine passed away last week cliff jumping in montana. it took them about a week to find his body over a mile away from where he jumped. it makes your relize how much people take life for granted.
they will be missed but not forgotten.

so true, the worst crashes ive ever seen, even by experienced skiers are when they are just cruising around and have let their guard down.

damn... that sucks

i almost died one time at killington their park was closed so i was just bombing around the mountain. i took some air off a catwalk with a blind landing (dumb) which was actually a mogul field. i lost control and flew into the woods sideways going hella fast. my brother was skiing behind me and thought i was done for. i only managed to hit one tree with my shin/boot and broke it in half. i had to of been 15-20ft off of the trail. i wasn't wearing a helmet but at the speed i was going i dont think it would have made a difference.

i dont think ill ever understand how lucky i really was

fuck, im so sorry you had to experience that. few people in the world will ever know what thats like.
i really really feel for you.
a kid i knew died at our mountain this year. he was jumpin this cliff, bout 30 feet, right under the chairlift, and there was so much snow he fell off headfirst and suffocated. no one got to him in time.
it was really sad.

times'll get better, best of luck to you.

Not to be all gross and all but do you have any details, I find that stuff interesting at times... Here's an example, branch through chest, blood pouring everywhere and so on...

Amen, I live by this everyday and it gets me through to another.

At least you were there with her when she passed, and she was doing something she loved. It's not much but at least that is something positive to be said of an unfortunate accident.

I didn't get to see my brother or even observe the situation that took his life. Now all I have is the images my mind creates and questions about what he could have been thinking.

Stay strong and lean on those around you when you have to, it helps trust me and good friends are more than willing to hold you I've found.
