Big White

Hey everyone,

I'm moving to Big white this january, and was looking for some info about accomadations etc. What can I expect for prices and availability of an apartment? I am planning on living somewhere in Kelowna, but is it possible to live in the Base Area?

Accom @ Big White is tough to come buy at that time of the season, most people have it already secured before they arrive which makes it easier.  The other thing that sucks is that the Samesun Hostel will not be operational from my understanding this year because it is housing all of R4's construction guys building the new tower/casino dealio.  What you can do is lurk around on Facebook at the various Big White groups.  Lots of talk on "The Official Big White Group." 

This past season I commuted from Kelowna to the hilll everyday, I was the terrain park supervisor, and with gas at $1.40ish it gets expensive, especially if you are making $9 an hour.  The trip from Kelowna is around 50kms....do the math!  I think I spent $100/week on gas.  They do run a staff shuttle that picks up a couple of locations in town and is $2.00 per trip.
