I never thought I would create a thread like this but i've been sitting around with a splint on my foot, watching a bunch of videos and i have to say, even though i have nothing against afterbang or riding away it seems like most skier's styles nowadays is becoming sooo uniform. Forget about the argument that says style is transitioning from slow and floaty to spin to win, that argument is dumb. Just go watch a top rated video where you see many good skiers all skiing the exact same way and wearing the exact same gear. It seems like there's no originality and everybody conforms to what some people make look sick rather then developing something for themselves. It reminds me of aerials or moguls which many skiers on this site seem to hate, because in aerials and moguls, things are judged based on your trick and how perfect the positions and movement is. I'm not saying that every skier is like this, but it seems like at least 75% of skiers ski this way.
And I know a lot of people think that riding away is just showing how you can controll a trick, but you can land in controll without riding away. I guess the real point of this thread is that some people make riding away look soooo damn steezy and some people don't. And if you can't make it look good, you're probably better off not doing it and just letting things come natural.
maybe it's just the pain killers talking but thats what i think..
you might think i'm a faggot or a douche for creating this thread but whatever..

skiing died when the corporations bought everything and unified it again. the FIS will inevitaly write a book of "freestyle" and newschool skiing will become mainstream skiing, in the moguls, aerials and you betcha, PARK. look at it this way, armada still owns themelves, but k2 and the rest of the conglomerates will buy the market, and copy eachothers previous years design. and freeskier will always have a terrible representation of newschool skiing, and were going to buy it.. america.

i fucking hate the robot steeze that is happening right now.
like, no offence to g.k., nice kid for sure, but fuck, not my cup of tea at all. its so bad i've started liking the exact opposite, the surface boys, charley ager, those kids have a way sketchier awesome style.
who cares if you flail a little? but a bit of personality into your riding.

A lot of times I think a little bit of flailing makes something appear more dangerous and impressive.

just my two cents but I think TJ Schiller has the sickest style on and off the hill. Hope he gets better soon, I'm pumped to see his new seggys

haha yeah seriously me too.
but i think you don't have to try and look steezy and do some banging to have style. i think hatveit is the sickest, he can make switch 12's look graceful somehow.

alright. so all the good skiers style is the same. you're telling me tanners crazy lazy charging in the trees is the same as simons kind of not that good style.
lets compare the styles of more recognizable skiing figures. Nick martini, Jon Brogan, and Gus Kenworthy. One nick's end, he slays the urban, and all of it. down low, up high, he throws his switch ups early, and when he jumps, he holds his grabs tight and spins quick. brogan has that afterbang steeze that seems to be associated with steeze, but is just currently in the phase of being assimilated with looking ghetto and pressed on a rail. as for gus, he just throws his shit hard, but sticks the landing and its steezy. all these skiers are undeniably good, and they all have different skiers. what the fuck are you talking about, but more importantly none of what i said made sense. potmarijuanacigarettes.

I like watching people who push themselves and try to bigger and throw harder tricks rather than just trying to steeze out and afterbang a seven.

yeah like someone said the robot or i call it soldier steeze makes everything look so easy and that makes you seem so .... not innovative that you spend so much time on a signle trick instead of progressing
