Definitely true, i have one and i feel it could split in half on impact. That being said, i do really like the helmet.

I too have a maze and love it, but bobby is not wearing one in that video. Pretty sure it's a Giro as mentioned above.

That is absolutely false. The smith maze has the exact same protection rating of that of the smith vantage helmet. All helmets meet certain specifications to recieve the certification that it has (ASTM F 2040, CE EN 1077:2007 CLASS B). just because its light doesn't mean it's not protective..

Actually every helmet has to pass the same rating test. So the maze is just as protective as every other helmet out there basically

Yes, every helmet *passes* the same test but that doesn't mean every helmet has the same protection value. This value they have to pass is the minimum protection value and not a maximal test. If they pass this they are fit to be sold as a protective garment. There are definitely varying levels of protection within ski helmets, not all are on an equal playing level. But in saying that every helmet that passes the standards are passable to ski in but not necessarily as safe as certain other brands and models.

Mazes are horrible. If you have one, you're better off just not wearing one. That would offer better protection value than the maze.

Yes I understand that not every helmet is the same, but what I was getting at is that there is no way to say one helmet is more protective than another when they all pass the exact same test and nothing further

well if a helmet has an very good construction and is made out of very good material, etc. you could say it is better than a 1mm thick helmet which is crappy constructed which did passed the minimum test....
