Winter Break

This winter im going skiing out west during winter break around christmas.. I've already been to Park City and a bunch of places around Lake Tahoe..I want to plan ahead so I can get a good deal on a hotel or condo but im unsure where to go.. i was thinking either whistler,mammoth, or like breckenridge/keystone area...what do u guys think would be best place to ski at that time???

go to colorado and go to telluride, crested butte, or steamboat. If you really want to go to summit stay in Frisco and you can chose between Vail, Copper, Breck, and Keystone which are all with a 1/2 an hour. If you can go to crested butte, Monarch is on the way and if it is the right time of year you can cat ski for a day for about $150

copper doesnt really havecat skiing, it just takes you to the same spot and then you have to hike. Monarch is legit with allot better terrain

whistler is awsome but really expensive around winter break, mammoth is also awsome but hard to get to...colorado would probably be your best bet

crested butte is tight, not to busy during winter break. if ur planning on going to the summit area be ready for massive lift lines and a lot of people

money isnt a problem since im goin with my family..whats the weather like at whistler in dec.? really cold?? lot of snow???

good snow at whistler, not too sure about temps, but it gets crowded. i used to go to kicking horse and such up in BC and it was nice over christmas, so whistler should be solid. but for best early season snow, id still say jackson is the most dependable in my opinion. they always have a solid base and their terrain is sicktor. ive gone the past two christmases with the fam and am going again this year, so that definitely would be my suggestion.

Whistler is seriously hit or miss around winter break. Two years ago they nearly closed because of shitty weather melting all the snow. We usually have a warm or dry spell around then, plus we have shitloads of tourists then too. It's better in Feb or late Jan.

However, this past season it was constantly puking snow and maintaining coldness all winter, so go figure.

You are not gunna want to go near it. Its decent but there is soooo much terrain to shred not to mention some of the best backcountry acess in the US but only if your into that stuff..

I guess it depends on what you are looking for but my all time favorites are jackson hole and whistler. There is some fucking gnar shit at both places~

^and actually ill be heading to powder mountain for my winter break trip, but thats mostly because its a new place for me, and I try to go somewhere new every year~

You should deffinatly go to Jackson. There is nothing like it. This winter is going to be HUGE to I can feel it. Or if you say no to Jackson go to Crested Butte.

just go back to park city! haha. but i would go with keystone or breck and aspen is real good to.  telluride is another option but i would go to keystone and breck over telluride.  theres like 4 sweet ski areas in that area.

how hard are the trails at jackson??im goin with my mom, bro, and aunt who lives in WA and they aren't the best skiers.. would they be able to find a lot of runs that aren;'t too difficult??

Oh deffinatly. There is the best range of Terrain here. Super easy to The most difficuly BC. It's the best, you can't pass it up.

It all depends on the weather. So pray for snow and if it comes it would deffiatly be worth your time to rent a pair of fat skis.

I was gonna say the same thing about frisco.  I think it is one of the sweetest setups because you have some many mountain choices in such a small area.
