Amplid Cholesterone rockered

I was looking into some powder skis and can get a really good deal on the 08-09 cholesterone,has any one ridden them? they look pretty dope and i only want them for pow. Also do you think that at 184 they would be to much ski for me? im 5 foot 7 and 135 pounds...still growing tho

its gonna be a pretty big ski for you, but it all depends on skier type, where you usually ride, etc. they are a great ski though and kill it in the pow and the crud

well im from the midwest but i take a couple trips out to utah every year and i figure it would be a ski i would have for a while, im a pretty aggressive big mountain rider tho and it would only be used in pow

well i guess for a dedicated pow ski they would be great. i've only heard good things about them and their quality and customer service as a company is top notch

i rode them, they are really light for their size, pretty easy to throw around and really charge through stuff easy. though i didnt ride them in pow, but i could see them being really good for backcountry jumps and drops, cause they are pretty damn stiff and throwable, so it seems like they could stomp stuff easy while feeling like a big park ski in the air.

I wouldn't worry about the size either. I have 179 hellbents, which measure like a 184, and I am just about the same heigh and weight as you. For powder, you will want that extra length, and wou will be glad you went that long.

what up all... first post here, visiter from TGR.


I'm real interested in Cholesterone R.C.

couple of issues I have....


can someone compare the softness to another ski of similar dimensions, say an EP Pro, a hellbent, or  something in that area....


I love the dimensions of the ski and the potential but don't want a ski that is anywhere as close to soft as the EP Pro. Doesn't need to be the stiffest ski of all time, but just a solid ski for powder runs, i'll be doing 20ft or smaller in the BC, and not much park skiing with these....I have a set of  volkl bridges that I mess around if im ever dabbling in the park.....

just like these because they're rockered, have a solid fat underfoot, and look like they'd crush in the pow,


also big concern, how do people think they'll do in the trees....can the people who have rode them, comment?

im gonna throw out that the bibby pro might be a great ski too. i just got mine and they seem SIIIIIIICK. havent ridden em yet but judging from flex and what not they seem awesome

Yeah the bibby pro does look sick, but I want something wider underfoot. I have a potential love affair with the amplid but i just need more info, like how it skis trees, stiffness....

hes one of the main North American reps and Team Manager. although he may be a bit biased, hes a good guy (i ski with him ofter) and he rode those skis all last year so he should be able to give you a better idea of how they perform and relative stiffness.

i plan on rocking a pair of the rc's myself this winter, just don't have them yet

Word, looking into them now. any thoughts on the other skis I posted above. esp giving the stuff i like to ride....pow first, trees, 10-20ft hucks.?

This sounds like a winner for me. Just waiting to here back from him on how they ski in trees. Obviously he is biased, but we'll see.

Yeah man. stoked. anybody know the weight of these skis per pair. And also, potential mount points. I really don't due a ton of switch, just want the ski to ride solidly, and have a good stomping profile that will keep me from flying over handle bars....anythoughts, again this will be pow and huck tree ski....not much switch


i know mount point is a little hard to picutre or gauge without the ski....but food for thought

I got to ride these in June in the slush at Mt. Hood.  They were a blast.  Not overly stiff, but stiff enough that I wasn't getting chatter out of them at high speed.

Hey man, see your over at Jibij, great to here you loved the skis. I saw you guys are selling amplid. Do you have a set of Cholesterone R.C.s over there yet? I'm living in Boulder now, so I'm dying to check em out. What about a set of moment comi's....thanks man, can't wait to check out the store.

We're still waiting on our Amplid skis to come in, but they said they should ship out this month.  We do have the comi in though.

hey guys, just got a email from Anian at Amplid, thought it might interest you.

regarding mounting point:we have marked true ski center and some distances on the ski.So it should be no problem to ensure, we're speaking about the same setback;-)Our riders that are into pulling tricks in big mountain lines go for acenter mounting.I think your riding style is quite similar to mine.I ride the skis with a 35mm setback.This works quite good for me.It's not good to go as far backwards as you might do this on ski withtraditional camber, as through the shortened running length this my cause tomuch backseat landings.I wouldn't go to further back than 40mm.My 09/10 choles will be mounted 30mm back!I hope that helped!RegardsAnian

ill throw my 2 cents in.  they are stiffer then most rockered skis. they also have very little rocker in the front and maybe even none in the back. its a massive ski also. but i think there is a shorter one. i bet it would be a good charging ski. and probaly a good BC booter ski. but not really a BC jib ski
