i think this is the sort of thing that consumers have been waiting for. providing this would has a stylus pen accessory, it would be perfect for those in the business community during meetings and for students taking notes in lectures.
plus you get the "cool" factor that every tech head is going to want.
i really don't think this will be made any time soon. osx lepoard just could not handle it. maybe when osx snow lepoard comes out but that will be in like 2-3 years
okay, i was talking with my dad(tech geek) and we realized, that really what else can they really evolve in todays computers, with todays technology. Really if you think about it, they have flat ass screens, and there'yre working on making the processors and boards and fans physically smaller so all thats left is to make touch screen enabled computers...that being said, i am not sure i 100% like the idea of a keyboard on a touch screen, its barable and useful on the ipod touch, but typing is a bit tedious, ....on a bigger screen im sure it would be easier, but still i like having the reassurance of pressing down a key...not entirely sure why, its most likely a psychological thing, i am not sure i could get used to tapping a hard surface
its not the most new and innovative thing in the world.
and not the most convenient thing being fully touch screen. I have a convertible tablet/laptop for work and as nice as it is for a few applications to poke and scribble right on the screen, it spends most of the time in laptop mode.
i'd brake that shit so fast. But i think is kinda weird how tech and computers are going becoming so fancy, when do you draw the line like look at the macbook air, Do we really need a laptop the skinny? I wanna see what technology will look like in ten years
The thing is with the apperent success of the touchscreen implimentation/design in ipods and iphones, the outcomes of a macbook touch might actually be usable (unlike previous tablets/touchscreens). I dont see it being common place since a lot of people wont like touching a hard surface that much but i think it would catch on as a fun 'toy' persay, even more so if there is an 'app store' to allow people to develop there own software for it (thats where I really see the potential).
The app store is the best thing apple has going for it right now and if they have it with the ability to develop software for a potential macbook touch, shit would hit the fan.
that would be a pain in the ass and people aren't ready for that yet, they're still blown away by the iphone so a touchscreen computer would be too overwhelming
seriously, half the people who own macs are severely computer retarded. Tablets have been around for years and the second a rumor about a mac touch comes out everyone talks about how "innovative" mac is, haha.
i wouldn't want a full touch computer. Touch vs a mouse/keyboard provides very little advantage (besides for multiple touch points), and think about how much you type and click. I don't think the advantages outweigh the negatives. Touch is perfect for a small device like the ipod touch, where buttons would be hard to fit and the applications are much simpler. I have one because its a superior piece of technology vs any other mp3.
I don't hate mac, I just hate all the ignorant mac fan boys
something else i have seen discussed is making just the touchpad on the macbook a little larger and a touchscreen. little secondary controlls for itunes
or all your photoshop tools. cool stuff like that. i think that would be cooler than a straight up tablet. not to mention the fact that a tablet is not in any way revolutionary, they have been around for a while. although mac would prolly do an awesome job with it
Big fucking deal, a tablet computer, but wait!, the mac version is even shittier because it lacks a keyboard! Horaaay, another miserable failure. Everyone knows how hard it is to text on an iphone/touch, now imagine typing a paper. PC's have had the same thing for ages, but with a keyboard. And for everyone thinking that this will be attractive to artists and drawers and the like they are wrong, Wacom already developed this technology to a much greater and easier extent, plus wacom tablets work with any computer so it defeats the purpose of anyone buying this new piece of supposedly "innovative" shit this spewed out of steve jobs ass.
I have a magazine somewhere with a pic of that sliding into an iMac... so the 'Macbook Touch' can act like a tablet and if you have an iMac you can dock the touch in it.
i didn't read any of the posts in the thread so im not suer if anybody has already said this but it would make sense because i have seen commercials for a dell touch screen and apple is usually up to date on all of the new technology. but what i wanna know is how anybody types on it?
fuck my life that would be so sick. i personally think that people who say the world isnt ready for this need to go do some acid. if you do acid you will find the meaning of life. then you will realize that the world is in fact ready for this.
with most tablet pc's you can write normally with one of those touch pens and it turns your writing into PC letters. not always accurate but you learn to use it
there is a whole lot of posts in here that i didn't read but i didnt see anything at a glance there is a thing called a modbook. the company takes a macbook or a macbook pro that you pick what you want on it and they make it just a touchscreen kinda like that. i'll try to find a link.
i find it quite amusing that people would cream their pants over it like this when Windows has been operating systems like this for quite some time, HP has had a touch screen desktop out for a few years now.
