just saw on the news that a man with no life preserver went over the niagara falls and lived without a scratch on him. they said it was a 173ft drop? but now he has a $10,000 fine. just insane shit. i told my mom that it was cool, and she said it is stupid and i am not gonna live till 20 because of the stupid things i do

Hard to say. It sucks, but they kinda have to charge him, otherwise idiots will go jumping off Niagra Falls thinking they'll live, then they'll splat on the bottom. Then their stupid ass families will sue, but if they know there's a fine if they live, hopefully they won't do it in the first place.

Isn't it illegal to commit suicide? well try.. but going over niagra falls is suicide, so thats probably why they fined him. And because they just thought he was a dumbass and needed a fine. I heard of some guy wanting to commit suicide so he was gonna go off Niagra falls, but changed his mind at the last minute and grabed on to a rock. I might've heard that on here.

yeah but water skis would make it like a lot more probable for you to die because they would hit you as you went into the water and do a lot of damage, maybe if someone waterski-based off it they could easily live, i bet Mcconkey would do that

To dispel any rumors about the height of the falls...
'The Falls drop about 170 feet although the American Falls have a clear drop of only 70 feet before reaching a jumble of rocks at its base. The American Falls are 1060 feet wide and the Canadian Falls are about 2600 feet wide. '

the rescue costs money...he tresspassed...and he did other things i dont know about as well...it adds up.
and i cant believe he survived it...the fall is only the start, theres also the rocks, and worst of all, the water is SO rough at the bottom, things called hydraulics usually pin you at the bottom of the riverbed for like days on end, and when you surface, the river flows at 40 miles an hour downstream. it boggles the mind how the dude survived...

even if he missed all the rocks and survived the impact i don't know how he managed to swim out of all the falling water and whirlpools and shit. there were so many ways he could have died. when i was at the falls i remember looking right down over the edge and thinking there was no way you could go over without any protection and survive. its insane. when they interviewed his dad apparently his dad was proud and bragging that it was something his son had always wanted to do. the whole family sounds crazy
