ah yeah, headhunters is the funky funky shit. cantelope island by herbie is good too. so is the birdland sessions/recording (can't remember which one) is by miles davis.

Um, if you like newer, more experimental stuff there's the Bad Plus, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, the Slip....

i like the more experimental kind of jazz, like john zorn. he is amazing. Sun Ra and shit like that is good too, but i dont think most people like free jazz.

OH YEAH the SLIP is more modern but it's a band worth checking out. such a great sound.
