How do i line up pvc pipes end to end?

do i just line them up and hope i dont catch an edge or is there a secret to it?

like cut both pipes at 45 degree angles and slide one under the other?

ALRIght I personally have never done this or had to because I have had 20 foot pipes. It all depends on the type of rail. IF its a FD rail you want the down below obviously. For a flat rail I would suggest lowering the second set of pipes just a bit.

just but them together as good as you can, if there is a little bit sticking up, turn the rail around, if you cant then just take a chisle or your ski edge and hack it down, once its down it wont matter.

i would have just put them end to end, but now that you mention 45° angle that seems like a better idea, but try something more like 60°, then slide them over so its more of a consistent flow into eachother, then if theres still a little lip just sand it to round it off for assurance

cutting them at 45 degrees is a pretty money idea, but i just use fittings that fit tightly inside the endes of the pipes

There a peices made specificly for this application.
They are called Internal PVC Couplers buy a few and caulk tham in before setting the whole thing up.
Also should one peice of pvc not line up on the outer surface just take a file and round things off into a perfect junction then you will have the perfect pvc seam.

i wouldent bother with a miter. Getting 2 exact 45s to meet up with pvc would be hard.  Just make the second 1 a bit lower.

sooo..im bringing this thread back because I am working on a flat down made with pvc. The lenght of the pvc pipes are long enough to cover the flat and down, but im afraid it wont bend well.

Has anyone done this? Should I bend the pvc and tighten it with just screws? does it work? and also has anyone tried bending it applying heat?

or should  I cut it?  but then how do I make a smooth transition between the two pipes so that i dont eat shit?

the total lenght of the pvcs is around 3m.

You definitly should not bend it, if you force it to bend youll get cracks everywhere. My suggestion would be to cut them and slide the down part under the flat part so the transition from flat to down is less than an inch. but than again ive never tried heating them so that might work.

the angle at which I would bend them is not that small (maybe 135...). I know they can be bent but it'll form more of an arch so I thought that  the drilling would fix that.

How can I slide the down part under the flat part? There's gonna be an angle in between them...Idk if it makes any sense.

Anyways, I'll try figuring out tomorrow and i'll also try the heating thing.

I figured id bump this with my 2 cents, if you really want a smooth transition, you heat up the pvc over a fire, or with a torch, then bend it. It should slide super smooth.

as long as you jam one end into the other, then screw one down so its a bit lower then the other you will be fine,i have 3 different rails like this.

i made a dfd out of logs and there was a  drop between each kink. It still slides fine, you dont even notice the drop. Im sure pvc would be the same if not better because there are less chances of catching.

I made a Flat Down that I also wanted to be able to turn around and use as an Up Flat. So I cut the pipes at an angle so that they would be close to fitting snug together and then I just took a file and made the transition really flush and it works well enough to slide both ways with no catching at all. I'll take pictures if you wanna see what I mean.
