I have the shittiest camera right now. I want to buy an HD camera. I'm willing to pay anywhere in between $500-$4000. Any ideas?

and id say it depends on how much you know about cameras

well if you have that big of a price range get a gl2. or if your looking for something cheaper i just got the canon hg10. here is the link. its a super legit camera and it works great .

if you price range goes up into 4,000, might as well be a G and get a Panasonic HVX or a Sony FX1..and be a true player

With $4000... wow. The possibilities are endless, depends on how much experience you have.

The HVX is an amazing camera, it captures amazing colors and stuff, but they'll be around $5000 new. The FX1 wouldn't be a bad choice for a lower price range, I think Level 1 shot with a couple of those last year.

Getting the FX1 etc will be no good unless you take some time learning about the camera over the summer. HV30 is pretty god if you're starting out in HD.

huge price range
if you are starting or don't know that much definitely don't spend over ~$1500-$2000.

If you are new to cameras and just are starting out I would not want to go throw 4000 on a camera that you have no idea how to use. You may not even want to look into HD just because the files can be a challenge to deal with, so ive heard if you don't have the right programs and good enough computer. I think something along the lines a vx or gl-2 ish range you will be very pleased with. I also hear the canon hv series' are very good as well. It really depends what you want to do with the camera and how serious you are about filming

You're not ready for a 4000 camera, sorry.  Then again neither am I.  You should learn to mess with settings and shots and angles and lenses and blah everything else with a cheaper camera, and then upgrade later when you feel that its time/you have money/the things you're filming are worth it (ie pro ski movies)

your probably right that I'm not ready for a 4000 dollar camera. I have a good amount of experience thought and would like a better camera.
