Replying to Should I get I Different Camcorder?

Alright, so I just got a Canon FS100 camcorder (SDHC recording) and when I got some test footage and put on my computer, I coundn't import it into any editing programs because the camcorder records to ".mov" files.  I realise there's video converting programs which convert ".mov" to ".avi" files, but using these sacrifice video quality.  I still have one or two more days to return my camera, so what would be best to do?

PS: I posted this in Media & Arts already and didn't get any replies, so I figured I'd get more replies in NSG.
