i'm going to Europe (france specifically) and i'd like to bring my laptop. For what its worth, its a brand new Toshiba. I know that i need the electric outlet adaptor to charge it, but i've also been told that i should get a voltage converter....and i have no clue what it is or what type i need.
enlighten me NS!

You shouldn't need a voltage converter, especially if it's a new laptop. You just need one of those plug adaptors.
Read on that box on your charging cord (i don't know what it's called). It should read 110-240V. If it does, you're fine, all you need is an adaptor. Most modern electronics support 110-240 (110 being NA, 220 being EU)

They sell alllll that shit in the airport so even if you dont have it, you can get it there. I was over in France in April and it was sick.

ok, you're right, it does say AC100-240V. So you mean i should be all set? I'd really rather not blow out my laptop after owning it for 2 weeks

when you go through customs remove your hard drive and put it in a different bag, they search computers and stuff now and even may ghost your drive and keep a copy

better safe then sorry. When I was in spain with friends one of my friends plugged in his xbox in the first five minutes we were in the hotel and he turned it on and it started smoking and all the power in the room went out.

Yep. Just get an adapter and you're good to go. Call up Toshiba and ask them if you really want.
