Hey guys,
This winter I'm going to be staying in summit county for a month. I plan on having a 2-ski quiver. The first ski would be a park ski. The next ski I was looking for would be a ski that would be big enough for powder, decent for the whole mountain, fun to play around on and maybe occaisionally take into the park. As the title suggests, I am considering the Rory SFS. I am 5'11" and 155 lbs. The Rory is the same length as the park skis I use and is pretty inexpensive compared to Bacons, EP Pros, Hellbents, etc. It also seems stiffer and more versatile, but there isnt much info on this ski. Anyone have any info to share? recommendations or suggestsions?

the rory is super sick in 178, theres also a 183, and 173, but the 178 can kill all conditions if your 5'8"-5'10" its got a mid flex and is 111mm underfoot, it's really nice everywhere. im a phan

actually a decent choice, i would get the 183s since you already have a park ski (coming to summit without one would be foolish as you will be using it most of the time)

thanks for the advice. i was thinking 178 was kinda short. i dont wanna spend a whole lot, so i was also looking at Tha 187. i would expect this ski to be significantly stiffer, however. what do you guys think?

i have the tha and they are pretty stiff.  they are definately more of a big mountain, charging type ski.  they are a really good ski and you'll like them, but i think you'd have more fun on the rorys.

thats what i was thinking. i dont know where people are finding the rory's in 183, i'm only seeing 178.

they are next years model, which if you are considering rory's you should definately buy. the 08s are stiffer than my 06 tha's and the topsheet chips horribly.  however the 09s kick ass they are way different and are softer with a solid topsheet.  there might be a picture of them in the08/09 ski picture thread if you haven't seen them yet.

yeah i'm also looking at the rories, but wonder if they'd be any better than elizabeths.  similar dimensions, but what about durability, flex?  Any ideas?

how about ruby's? they seem like they would be comparable... the 188's are supposed to be softer and i think there woulnt be a problem with length if i mounted closer to center... what do you guys think?

anyone looking at the 0809 series from 9 should rest easy the skis are great quality, in fact its the best 9 has ever put out, Elan has really helped them create a very stable product, Rory was on one pair of his 178s all winter and could not break those, and there have been zero binding pull outs or top sheet chipping from the new 0809 stuff,

that sounds good, but also a little biased... anyway, i would like to give the 183's a try if they're in my price range. anyone know when this season's stuff will be available?
