My battery charger

for the last few weeks my battery charger for my nikon d50 has been missing.....   since then i've been shooting some film and i also have a little point and shoot that gets the job done but everyone knows theres nothing quite like a dslr.  anyways i searched high and low throughout my room several times and have found nothing--i've searched as much as i deem necessary throughout the rest of my house (i wouldn't have moved the charger and none of my roommates have the need for said charger).  at this point i'm guessing someone stole it; and this is weird because we do have people over but during the timeframe of the charger missing, i have known everyone who has been in my room and am pretty sure that none of them would have taken my charger.     Sooo now i'm just saying fuck it--it's gone and theres nothing i can do about it--some stroke of dumb luck i guess.  To buy the original nikon charger again is 40 bucks; to buy a charger compatible with my battery on ebay is $1.95 with 7.99 shipping

I am in quite the connundrum so i'm asking anyone who cares to answer if the ebay chargers will actually charge my battery or if they are just a scheme to get poor people like me to buy worthless junk and steal my money.
