K I posted this in another thread but I think it needs it's own thread. I see so many kids saying they don't want skiing in the olympics cause it'll become mainstream. It's kinda sickening
I hate to say it cause I love that skiing is a very core group right now but we NEED the bandwagon gapers.
Right now there are SO many kids that deserve to be sponsored but can't
be because there isn't enough money in the industry. And you can say
that's not a big deal but if you're serious about the sport and want to
make it as a professional you're going to realize at some point that
it's damn hard to do. It's not enough to be one of the best skiers in
the world. you have to somehow find the money to get to competitions
or photoshoots or whatever it is that you're gonna do to make people
see that you're that good. It's damn near impossible to save the money
to travel to these events and still be able to train often enough to
not get you ass kicked when you get to these events. thing is once you
finally are sponsored it's not like it's going to help out that much,
cause it's still gonna take you forever to convince the sponsors to
give you a travel budget.
If skiing were in the olympics it would be so much easier for athletes
to go to companies (outside of the industry that can actually offer
them some decent money) asking for some support so they can acctually
focus on training and going to Xgames, us opens, world cups and other events
Sorry for the rant and sorry if I discouraged anyone from wanting to
become a pro skier but it's the reality of it. Skiing is one god damn
hard sport to make it in right now.
