I'm from Bosnia, I was born in Sarajevo and skied there when I was a kid. The best skiing in all of ex-Yugoslavia is probably in my city, we have 3 massive mountains within 30km of Sarajevo. Beograde is not well known for skiing, the climate doesn't allow for good skiing really. Kopaonik is the biggest most modern place in Srbia to ski. Pretty big, decent terrain, and TONS of sun. If you are going that far, you might as well go to Sarajevo. Jahorina and Igman were the two main locations for the Winter Olympics. Jahorina is better, it has been recently upgraded, and it has the most terrain. The skiing is dirt cheap, it's like 30KM per day which is like 15 Euro, the beer and everything else is pretty cheap compared to most ski resorts. I also hope you like tall slender women, cause theres a ton of them in Sarajevo. With Jahorina being so close to Sarajevo, the partying in Sarajevo is the best. I'll be in Sarajevo this winter for a month skiing and having fun, so maybe I'll run into you.

Thanks bro... but I already found stuff on "kapaonik". It seems like the only resort in Serbia. Atleast that is all I can find.

I don't expect them to have a banger park, and I haven't really charged that much in the park the past two years. So I am stoked to see that "powder" It's not as fresh as what we got here, but it is surely better than nothing.

Does anybody live in Serbia??? or have ski'd there before? I want to hear some first-hand opinions.

Oh shit, I just remembered that Kopaonik is right near the border of Kosovo and Srbia. Being an American you might be okay there, but you would still be taking a chance. It's all ethnically and politcally fucked, best to steer away from there I think.

Canada and an EU passport on my side. But the Serb's don't want to be a part of the EU.

I'm really stoked as to see what Serbia has to offer, but I prolly will be makin' my way towards Sarajevo

i just wanted to say, its sweet your going there, my whole family is from there, i dont know much about the skiing there but im sure it will be just fine, at least better then most hills here in the midwest.

well i posted in ur original thread but yea pretty much like others in this thread. I have a friend from sarajevo and she says its really good skiing over there.

I just remembered a small skiing fact about Sarajevo, Igman, where they had the massive Olympic ski jump was a location of genocide. If you go to the Olympic jump, at the base area, it is riddled with bullets from people getting stood up against the jump and shot. I saw it two years ago when I was driving around Sarajevo, it was weird to know something so horrible happened only a decade ago at a place people have fun at now.

That is f'd... why would you tell me that? that is really disturbing. However, it is pretty unbelievable this was going on only 10 years ago. Atleast they have come this far... Somewhat stable country.
