It rated one of the best JC's in the state. fairly good school, most teachers at sierra are also Sac state teachers. So you get the same classes, and same teachers as a state school, for about a 1/10th of the price. Not a bad place at all.
And you could make it to boreal from Sierra in rocklin in just over an hour, other resorts in 15 min more.
go to the 711 in Kings Beach, or just about anywhere in Truckee, then talk to me.
Immigrnts are everywhere there is work man, and if they can find work in Tahoe, thats where they go. Besides.. I probably know more white people that dont like the cold than Latinos.
I'm attending the Rocklin Sierra campus before going to either Cal Poly or Davis. I'll be going into my second year in the fall.
Its a chill school, the classes are laid back if you get the right professors. I've done the drive to Boreal in 50 minutes. Some homies and I will just leave around 2 during the week and ride from 3 to 9. To get to Northstar or Squaw its about 1:15 or so.
I know the Truckee campus doesn't offer many courses if you're trying to take a full schedule. I'd just recommend you go to the Rocklin campus. You meet people that ride, I've got 5 friends that I carpool with, 1 who has a place in Incline. I'll be living right next to the campus in the fall, you could even hit me up if you're down to ride.
Rocklin is the main Sierra College campus so thats where most of the classes are offered. The Truckee center is just a small extension that offers a very limited number of classes.
By full schedule I mean taking anywhere from 12-17 units per semester. You could do that at the Truckee center but you'd have to take a good deal of online courses as well.
From personal experience I do not recommend that. I found their online course I have taken to be useless. It seems hard to really learn much doing those classes. Their online system is not the best, and in most cases you still need to take all your exams at the library or testing centers. However you could take a full schedule in the fall and summer semesters and take a limited of classes in winter, to average out to a normal school year.
Very true, take your spring semester at the Truckee center with 2-3 classes that they'll be sure to offer like English. Going there for the fall semester would be pointless.
There's also a campus in Grass Valley. Probably takes the same exact times to get to tahoe, but it's an all around nicer place to live than roseville. I'm not exactly sure the extent of classes it offers, but i know its better than truckee.
Good point. I grew up in the GV area and went to school there for 3 semesters before I need any classes in rocklin. They have a pretty good selection there, and more importantly good teachers. Remember RateMyProfessors.com it can be a life saver.
Yeah i live in Grassy Valley and Boreal/Sugarbowl are 45 mins, northstar alpine and squaw are all a little over an hour away. A lot of my friends go to the GV campus and like it. A lot of the teachers teach at my high school too. Overall really legit and worth checking out
Cal Poly kids are the nexus of mediocrity and the percentage that are bros is pretty disgusting. Also I would not be pumped about pismo. It is the closest break to me so I end up there a lot.
