I like the vibe rap/hiphop gives to skiing, it's really fun to me and I really like the style it brings to not only my game (not saying I have a whole lot of steeze, but just saying that it works for me and makes me feel like I am), but many others skiing as well. I don't really like the whole indie rock with skiing either. It's just preference I guess.

Do you guys remember that one year when "Dancing With Myself" by Billy Idol was used by like...three movies companies? It was in "Ready, Fire, Aim", "High Life", and something else. I can't listen to that song even nowadays.
Most Sweatshop Union, overused for sure.
I'm surprised that people haven't used Ohmega Watts more, Rage used a song by him in the Cordorouy trailers. Chill stuff

Honestly, the only people I know who cling to some imaginary counterculture, or pseudo intellectual identity are high school students. Maybe you should name drop some obscure artsy bands, or tell me about the virtues of post punk England.
Obviously, there are people who aren't fanatical about music, who are insecure, and rely on the most accessible forms of media and marketing for cues as to what's cool. It has nothing to do with rap. It has everything to do with feeling alienated and wanting to belong. Tell me the difference between a kid with black fingernails, shitkickers, and a marilyn manson t, and another with an airbrushed biggie t, flat brimmed fitted, and dunks.
