We Cant Do It

meh, didnt read every single one, and im pretty sure we're the only ones that have actually done it

everyone should  just stop skiing...clearly others people's clothing is becoming far too much of an issue for anyone to just look beyond and ski for themselves, so quit and save yourself the hassle.

our sticks make us stand out, style just comes with the person on them.

skiers are too uptight to change styles. we are mostly just a bunch of nerds. we hate on anything thats a tiny bit different from the norm, and we take shit way too serious to have our own style. why do you think you see like half the park full of kids with the newest matching oakley gear, correctly sized carbon fiber poles, brand new helmet, and trying to look badass for the snowboarders. i may sound wierd, but thats what ive noticed. apart from a few awesome skiers who arent afraid to do their own thing and goof off all the time, most skiers are perfect and way too overly serious.
i mean look at snowboarding now, they are wearing like button up shirts, leather jackets, and shit their dad used to wear in the 70's. but skiers cant do that because we constantly have to have 50,000 mm waterproofing, with microwave lazer pockets and you cant wear shit over 1 season old, and it has to be from the same company with matching colors and designs.

i feel kinda gay for bitching about fashion, but it reflects on the sport as a whole, we really are a bunch of uptight nerds, we have to be gangster, movies always have to be full of epic stuff, we are extremely serious about EVERYTHING. i know skiing is changing, and in a couple years hopefully we will be over this like decade long fad of being as gangster and badass as possible, and loosen up, just this past season i saw soooo many skiers who would not have even gotten close to existing 2 seasons ago, people just cruising around the park slashing shit, buttering off everything possible, tapping everything, wearing tight pants and no poles, jeans, sweatpants, etc... and its really refreshing.

we need to loosen up, loose the poles, forget about how badass we think we need to look, wear skiing what you slept in the day before, stop thinking we need to lip 810 double rodeo onto every rodeo and stomp it like a badass, jib every little thing possible, jib a playground instead of a gnarly 50 stair perfect handrail. and goof off like crazy.

sorry for the long rant, and i know i sometimes fit into the uptight catagory, and i know i need to change also. but shit skiing really needs to change.

and i think we need to get into the tight pants thing, we already are and this next season i know its gonna blow up, atleast its something new in skiing, plus it opens up soooo many new possibilities and ways to get creative, so our own little style will eventually pop up.

I mostly agree with that.

But:


"we need to [..] loose the poles" is wrong. Loosing your poles is not necessary. It is just another idea of Individualism.

"jib every little thing possible, jib a playground instead of a gnarly 50 stair perfect handrail" is also incorrect. It may be something new, but it isn't necessary. If everybody acts like that we'll have a new fad.

What i want to say is, that everybode should get creative in the way he wants to. Wether on 50 stair handrails, the BC, the park , a playground or anything else.

Nobody should tell somebody else what's cool and what's not. This is the wrong approach to skiing.

If you want to wear tight pants, wear them.
If you want to wear baggy pants, wear them.
If you want to wear 70s clothing, wear them.

Just do what you want to do. Don't listen to the people who tell you what to do.
