Whistler for a month

So I'm planning to go with a few friends to Whistler and stay there for a month (maybe more) next winter.
I plan on teaching ski there during the holidays so I can make some money and get my pass.

So I would like to know some shit about Whistler , straight from the people who live there:

Where to sleep? I was thinking about the Southside Lodge, is it ok? or maybe the staff housing?

Where to eat? go out?



Skis: is buying a pair of fat skis worth it ? What about renting ? (I live on the ice coast - and I need a new pair of sticks anyway)

Anything else I should know?

live in staff housing it's awesome.

be a ski instructor you'll have tons of fun and ski lots!

get some fat skis because there are lots of runs!  like rossi B2 or K2 phat luv or sweet thang!

see you in the slopes!

I was planning to bring my own boots, renting boots sucks and yeah aren't sweet thangs ak phat luv women skis? lol

meh I would be a instructor for like 8 days and have the rest of the time to ski for me(my friends did that last winter), being a ski instructor is the only good way I found to have my Whis pass for free



so what would be a better plan?

I'm guessing your planning on doing this during you're super long CEGEP x-mas break?

If I were you I wouldn't instruct because teaching sucks, your not actually skiing the mountain, and I doubt you will get a job for a week, they want people that can commit to an entire season, I've been researching a lot.

They have a super good deal on seasons passes, kind of like Tremblant's uber cheap student pass. As long as you are a student the seasons pass is like 400-500$ and I've already checked and CEGEP students are eligible for it. Compared to the student pass at lake Louise (1250$) it is nothing.

Again, I don't think that you will get in staff housing if you are only going for a month, I think it is more for seasonal employees, but it's worth a try cause I think that would be the best place to stay, partywise and to meet people to ski with.

There is a youth hostle in whistler that is super cheap, but you can only stay for 1 week  But when I emailed them they were super helpful and gave me a list of places to stay for cheapish for longer then a week and I put it at the bottom of the post. I'm also going to post here and on TGR forums to try to find random couches to crash.

I've been trying to plan this for awhile cause I've got to get out of fuckin Quebec and do some real skiing. Good luck and Maybe I'll see you there
