What longbord should i buy

im looking into buying a longboard, im 5'4 and still growing and  i want one i can use for like 3 years, im willing to pay up to 170, any suggestions

what do u want in a board, somethin u can slide and carve on (long pintail), or somethin u can manual and ollie (short, with a fin)?

I've got a 42" sector 9 supercruiser
It's wicked sturdy and can carve great, just not that tight.
It does have a kicktail though.

I love it.

You should buy a board for me. I'm thinking a 35-40" pintail.
They are completey custom and cost $65. The you could piece together some trucks for less than 40, and same with wheels. Bam you got yourself a longboar for less than one-fiddy.

Pin tails suck ass, go with anything but a pintail. Arbor makes a bunch of sick boards, check those out. And you cant go wrong with sector nine plus there cheaper than most.

What is wrong with everyone recommending sector 9 boards. Yes they are cheap, but thats exactly what they are. NOBODY buy sector 9. They might be nice to look at but the only board to buy from there lineup  is the city crusher/cruiser. everything else is garbage with a nice graphic.

I'd like to see a complete Loaded Dervish for 170$, that's what just the deck goes for.

For a poor man's dervish check out www.krackedskulls.com the M1 is a great beginner deck but you can get the Scimitar if you want more wheel options. If you want to spend your whole 170 get a Scimitar with Lime BigZigs.

What is with you ratting on sector nine? Im fairly sure that for a first board, a sector nine would be a great choice. They are well priced, and great beginner boards. What is the problem with that? It might not be the highest of quality but again, for the price, it's a good board.

Go for a sector nine.

It doesn't matter if your a beginner or a pro. They break easiy and the quality is not up to par; hence why they are "well priced" There are many other great choices for beginners in terms of longboards.

To the creator: If you really want some good info on longboards or just my opinion in other words check out www.silverfishlongboarding.com (This is the NS of the longboarding community) There are multiple threads on beginner boards. Make sure you check it out.

I didn't like the Arbor board I rode, too high off the ground. If you're going to be riding in a city on a regular basis, be sure to get a longboard with a nose lip. You simply have to be able to stop quickly and the only way to do that reliably at high speeds is by kicking the board out sideways, which requires a nose lip.

If you're not gonna be riding very much in the city, get this board no questions asked. It will be your lover. You will buy it a diamond ring and make sweet love to it, and your firstborn will be kin to it. There is no better board for cruising around streets, neighborhoods, parking lots, etc., especially at this price.

Both the M1 and Scimitar found on this page are spectacular boards. If you want to bomb mad hills and still have great carving/cruisin' ability, get the M1. If you really want crazy turning ability for super fun carving, get the Scimitar.

It's the most bang for you buck IMO. For your price range it's between this and a Sector 9, and you can see how people feel about sector 9's.

They're a lot higher quality than the S9's for the same price range. They also will last you throughout your learning curve - it'll work when you're a beginner and you'll still love it to death once you get good. Such an amazing, smooth ride.
