Longboarding is sooo chill.

I just got my first board yesterday,  and I can't get over how sick longboarding is, especially with a bunch of your friends in the summer or just cruising to some ska.

Its just so awesome and I'm stoked on it.

whats the point of going that fast.
the whole point of longboarding is chilling and carving the shit out of huge hills, not bombing them.
I dont know maybe people like bombing them but I love to carve them so much more.
Whats with the suits they wear anyways?

Your right man... It's important to wear full faced helmets that are DOT approved because like you stated if you crash you are fucked. I know I have crashed without a helmet, not at the speeds in the youtube vid but lower speeds and it is really dangerous. BTW you are right we go about 100-110 on some of those hills. + Karma for you

Most longboarding consists of speed and hills. Not just "cruising the boardwalk". This aint the O.C.

As SKIDUBAIGUY sais about the helmets, when you areching speeds of 100-110 KMH you need leathers in case you fall. Most of the equipment is motorcycle gear, and pro longboarding equipment. The board I am riding on the hill is a LandYacht for speed, and in the garage I am riding an Arbor board.

Dude as long as your having fun... who cares how fast you go. Just enjoy it. I am sure you'll be riding hills and parking garages in no time.

Personalyl I love garages. In Boston last year they had a 12 floor spiral that was f'n sick. You just have to scout out good places and wear the right protection.

You can't skate all the way to the bottom. Always stop at the 2nd or 3rd level and take the elevator out, or most parking garages just have an exit for customers who use it everyday and there are neer guards at these types of exits. Also going later at night works best. Plus if you live a big city, they don't really give a shit if your riding the top 5/6 floors at night.

Dude a decent board runs about 250-350... Sector 9's and boards that are manufactured the same way are shit. I am sure if you buy a decent board you will get good at it in no time, and you will be having the time of your life in the summer. Hell, at least you won't be bitching that you can't ski in the summer.

thats pretty crazy man

I'd prob shit myself going that fast, then again its prob more stable on a speedboard or at least a hybrid like an evo.  i just have a pintail.  the fastest I've prob gone is 40 mph.  I clocked the hill coasting in my car and got up to 55.  that was incredibly scary got some bad speed wobbles at the end.

I like going moderately fast and carving a lot though.  since I don't have a helmet or leather I'll stick to less intense longboarding.  mostly I just use mine to get around campus now
