In my experience, Helly Hansen makes some sub-par quality outerwear.
Alright I know this isnt a big deal, but for first season pants and me never using this pocket the plastic shit just ripped. I wouldnt say HH makes sub-par quality on this one occasion because at the very begining of the season my HH jacket zipper just broke off for no reason, first time wearing it besides the shop. Frankly Im kinda pissed off at HH right now because after dropping a few hundred bucks both things I have owned of theirs have had quality problems. Maybe its just my bad luck, but Im really doubting HH's quality. I emailed a few people but Im guessing it will take them awhile to get back to me.
That plastic shit breaks on any jacket you buy. Did you shove your pass in there and pull it out and put it back in repeatedly? well, there is your problem. My Oakley jacket did the same thing.
i don't think they'd have a warranty like that if they made sub-par quality products...
from the site.
Anyone willing to take on the challenge? Since we began making outdoor clothing in 1877 our products have traveled all over the world, testing both themselves and their owners to the limit.
During that time they’ve visited the very ends of the earth including Everest and both the North and South Poles. In all that time and distance we’ve stood behind every product we’ve ever made. Today that tradition remains unbroken.
If a Helly Hansen product ever fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship we will either repair it without charge or provide a replacement.
I'll give you a quick clear up on this since I work with HH. Both of the issues you've had are completely under warranty as they are manufacturer errors. With the clear pockets I've seen a few Survival Pants come in with issues but never the actual Survival Suit, and zippers happen from time to time, it's never consistent though on a single jacket (hence why its covered under the warranty). Either call corporate (number is on the website) or pop by a HH brand store and they can do the dirty work for you. Right now its about 2-4 week turn around and if they can't repair it (which on the clear pocket they likely can't), you'll get a full retail credit to use on a new HH product.
that is exactley wat happened to my survival pants, and the back pocket zipper fell off, and i have a hole about 10 inches tall and 6 inches long on my leg, it ripped way too easy, i know im not going to get HH again, hello saga
HH has always broken on me in a short amount of time. i went through 5 jackets in 2 years so now i stay away. besides all their stuff is so over priced when you can buy other brands with better quality for half the $$$
I just find HH is only sick if you spend the money, and buy their top end stuff. Anything that isnt top end seems to be poorly constructed and doesn't even seem to fit quite right.
the thing is their high end shit doesnt really look cool. And honestly im really disappointed in HH right now, honestly its bullshit I know but they should be really tryin to help me out if there piece of shit equipment messes up on me. The person I contacted said its going to be around august by the time I get it back if I send it in. Thats bullshit, I realize its not winter but honestly I buy their equipment and they should be helpful and cooperative to fix their stuff on something I am not at fault at all. I hope this company realizes whats up and fixes their act before its more than a few people such as myself who dont want to buy into their crap anymore.
lifetime warranty should be a policy for companies who one out of a thousand items are defective, HH clearly is much higher and im guessing they probably have 1 good item for every 1 defective item considering ive had 2 of their products and both had something defective.
Yeah Im not meaning to hop on oakley's dick or anything but for a company that specializes in optics, even oakley makes way better quality stuff from my experience so far. Im hoping I can get new pants or whatever and maybe sell them on here or something, right now Im really hesitant to continue supporting their products.
Dude, why are you chapped about a lifetime warranty? A low quality company will never have a lifetime warranty because it would cost them too much money. If the shit wrecks you can get it fixed free forever, as opposed something like oakley where if the shit is defective, you're out of luck unless it's only been a year. Lifetime warranty is a form of quality control. HH has to be on their game so that they're not shelling out a ton of money fixing stuff. I have a HH jacket that I've had for 3 years, and the only thing that's happened to it is a ripped seam in the armpit, which happened when I caught it on a tree and incidentally gashed my ribs at the same time. I understand if you've got beef with a brand because you haven't had much luck with them, but it doesn't make sense to rip them for a lifetime warranty.
yeah that was stupid what I said now that I think about it, but you gotta realize most people who have a defective product (at least half, usually more) dont do anything about it. And also keep in mind 95% of the people in this topic have had problems with HH.
it's pretty ridiculous to say oakley compares, they always seem to use cheap fabrics that rip every time you brush a branch in the trees. i haven't had any problems with my helly pants, and i skied in them over 100 days this year, and the only things i can see is frayed cuffs and a spot where i spilled maple syrup. they've lasted me pretty well, considering i seem to break all my ski gear sooner or later.
I'm really not sure who you talked to that said you'd get it back in August but I've seen most of the warranties back within 3 weeks as of late. Which only puts you into early July... I can throw down as another person who has had zero issues with my gear from HH (don't consider me biased by where I work as I do own other brands), but after nearly 60 days of riding this year in my current jacket and pant combo from HH I had NOTHING happen to them and this is with regular wear around town of my jacket too. Honestly the only mistakes I've seen in design lately were from using eVent fabrics which was 3 years ago (their fabric peels back like it's nobody's business) and doing the clear pass pocket ala Survival Pant, the other version they did on the Equipes was bulletproof though.
huh, i've never had any issues with helly hansen. i've had 4 or 5 helly jackets, and 3 or 4 pairs of pants. the only problem i've ever had with any of those is i snapped the elastic that tightens the bottom of the jacket on one of my jackets.
