there are two different "climbing posts" that raise your heel futher off the ski for increased uphill performance. you can normally also choose not to use any of these "climbing posts", which is really nice for skinning on the flats and mellow uphills. but if you have the dildo style look or rossi bindings, your heel will come down too far and cause you to release.
so in other words you will always have to have your heel raised up if you are going to be using those bindings. it's not all that bad, especially if there are minimal flats in your route and it still beats hiking.
