Replying to Thinking about moving to denver...help me out

So, im thinking about moving to denver, and i need some input. I dont have all my questions lined up so i might add some more. I just moved back to CT from Bend, OR, and im already jonesing for the snow. However, Bend was too small for my liking so im thinking Denver. I have a very good friend who lives there already, and would be willing to room with me, along with two other guys most likely. So im looking for a house in a not so shitty area, preferably western denver, for access to the mountains, as well as proximity to denver health hospital (im an ER tech). That being said....

what neighborhood do you suggest. i like young and cool but it doesnt have to be sickeningly trendy. places and hotspots you recommend would be cool.

what mountain to get a pass at.

anything else that would be worth mentioning about denver. cool places to drink (because i love to drink).

also, is the loft thing worth looking into in downtown denver? it seems fascinating to me but im not sold, and neither is any of the other guys.

im also going to have to go to school, so if i need to be aware of anything in that arena a heads up would be much appreciated.
