Thinking about moving to denver...help me out

So, im thinking about moving to denver, and i need some input. I dont have all my questions lined up so i might add some more. I just moved back to CT from Bend, OR, and im already jonesing for the snow. However, Bend was too small for my liking so im thinking Denver. I have a very good friend who lives there already, and would be willing to room with me, along with two other guys most likely. So im looking for a house in a not so shitty area, preferably western denver, for access to the mountains, as well as proximity to denver health hospital (im an ER tech). That being said....
what neighborhood do you suggest. i like young and cool but it doesnt have to be sickeningly trendy. places and hotspots you recommend would be cool.
what mountain to get a pass at.
anything else that would be worth mentioning about denver. cool places to drink (because i love to drink).
also, is the loft thing worth looking into in downtown denver? it seems fascinating to me but im not sold, and neither is any of the other guys.
im also going to have to go to school, so if i need to be aware of anything in that arena a heads up would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance +karma

Thanks guys, keep it coming. Im leaning towards moving. Just have to support myself, my bad habits, and school all at the same time. My rents would surely not pay for school if i moved west a second time (i misfired on Bend, OR already, spend two years out there doing nothing but skiing).

niice; i would steer clear of regis. private school so its pricey, with less money value because i think it has less to offer than most, but nevertheless it's reputed as a good school (for some people) too small at least for my taste im from seattle. good luck in your travels. just make sure as someone already had said the 5 mtn pass is a ridiculous steal.

2 questions, what are you looking to pay for rent, and what are you studying? if you want to be near a medical center, then anything on Cap Hill, LoDo, Ballpark, or the Central Business Distrcict is sick if you have money and love the city lifestyle, otherwise Lutheran Medical Center is in the Wheatridge area and is much closer to the foothills

well sparknotes so you dont have to hear my sob story...i graduated high school 2005 and have not done shit since. im absolutely and completely stuck between med school and nursing school. the point is though i need an undergraduate first, regardless of what i persue, and the schooling will need to be full time. I would be looking for a job as an ER tech at denver health preferably. im an EMT-B and a CNA.
ill check out wheatridge though, thanks.

im from east coast, moving to colorado also. for schools, i looked at boulder, csu, and colorado springs. deffff not colorado springs, hell nahh. boulder was tight, but i went with csu cause i liked their sports med program. But if you're looking to ski alll the time, you should look at Colorado Mountain college and Western State. They aren't in denver, but still in colorado.

if you want to study full time and work at denver health, find an apartment on capitol hill, go to metro or UCDHSC and it will work out wonderfully
