What's your parents take on drinking?

So, my friends and I were drinking tonight at this girls house, and once it was over, we went over to her other house to chill and get picked up. I called my mom when I thought I was sober and asked her to pick me up.

Once I got in the car however, she started complaining about a gum-like smell, and I told her a couple of my friends were drinking, and I just had a couple sips of beer. She obviously tore through that alibi and she pretty much told me "Don't give me that bullshit, I did so much of that when I was a kid, believe me, you won't fool me." in a joking kind of tone.

So I told her the whole story and she just told me that although she was somewhat comforatable with me and me being responsible, but she was worried that other people I was with might cause some trouble and I'll be dragged along with it.

She seemed ok with the idea of me experimenting, but was worried that it might lead to trouble further along the way, like drugs, smoking and what not. So I'm just wondering what your/your parents take on drinking at a young-ish age? (15)

And for the people who are older, how did you turn out?

ps. sorry if I dont make sense in some places Im still a tad bit tipsy

My parents dont really mind, but if some local arabs caught me drinking here i would be arrested and the deported. At the partys we have here we always leave time at the end say from 12-1 to sober up and theres always someone whos not drinking there to take responsibility of hiding all the alcohol so someone doesnt get tempted to drink it, so in the end we all walk away a bit tipsy and dont act like fools and get causght.

My parents kinda freaked out when i was like 16, but then i got caught smoking weed, and they didn't really care about drinking after that, as long as i wasn't smokin.

Watch your back for a while. She doesn't mind you drinking, so feed her white-lies when she knows you have been drinking. Don't be stupid for a couple of weeks, she'll gain her trust in you.

Then, when you do go out and use other drugs, don't let her know. Stay semi-honest about alcohol but parents of certain backgrounds have different views on things. The British drink like it's no bodies business, on the other hand a lot of Asian parents are really touchy about drinking, let alone drugs.

Bottom line is, if she's chill about alcohol stay honest about it, she'll get over it, just be careful about getting caught "experimenting" drugs.

where i live in montana pretty much everyone starts drinking when they are like 15 or even younger sometimes....so its not really unusual....but most parents around where i live all think that there child is teh special one that isnt drinking...and all that bullshit...so the kids would lie...and get caught...and get in trouble
I never lied to my parents about it...and in turn the trusted me to make my own decisions and to deal with the consequences of getting caught...and if for some reason my parents decided..no kortnee you cant go out tonite...than i didnt fight or argue about it...because i knew that they had been so leaniant before....... so ya that worked out for all of high school.... and now im a big gurl and i can do as i please :D

my mom said if i tell her exactly what im doing before i go out i wont get in trouble for it

so i normally just tell her yeah im drinking tonight might blaze too i dunno.

and she just says to make sure i know who im getting my weed from and be careful.

my moms pretty chill.
she randomly freaks out sometimes though...

The first time I got caught I was 15 and I had invited a bunch of friends over to my house. We all pitched $20.00 earlier on in the day and I got a girl who was 19 to boot for us. Anyways that night everyone came over (3guys 5girls) and got fucking blasted. My dad caught us and as punishment I had to phone each of the girls parents, request to talk to their dad's and tell them I was getting there daughters drunk. My dad comes up with the weirdest punishments. Anyways somehow it worked out in my favour and all the father's of the girls who came over fucken loved me in highschool. I went over to one of the girls houses' a few weeks later nad her dad called me aside. I thought I was in so much shit, but he just introduced me to some of his friends who were over and called me a straightshooter who was alright in his books.

That's a bomb ass story.

For me i think i'd be in some trouble but not too much. My sister got caught when she was around my age(16) so it couldn't be worse than her punishment, which was nothing anyways.

for me it seems that you will get into it and do it alot and then finally realize that it really isnt that fun all the time and it gets old. I started around 16 and got drunk alot then quit for a while...then around my senior year in high school i started right back up and was drunk close to every weekend for prolly say a good 3 months. now im around it alot but dont do it as often. you just gotta know your limits. make the best of it tho and make the good desicions and dont be a complete dumbass cuz im close to 20 now and have never gotten an MIP or whatever u guys call em so it just takes some good decision making to turn out fine i guess...

mine dont care as long as i dont become an alcoholic, or drive drunk.
they basically let me have friends over to drink as long s they're not dumbasses and ruin my house.

i dont know about weed though, never gotten caught or opened a discussion on it.

dude im 15 and i drink every weekend and smoke weed everyother day
the biggest part is finding ppl that you trust and arnt gunna be dumbasses
my parents dont know but thats just cuz i only do it with kids i trust and kids they know pretty well
so yea as long as your chillin whit someone who you and your parents trust it doesnt matter who else your with because then your parents know you wont do anything stupid
so try to find someone youve know for a while and chill with them like every day
you can get away with so much more if  you with that person

I'm 17 and have been drunk twice in my life and it was when I was on vacation. I always DD for my friends and if I don't have to drive I'll have a beer mainly because there's nothing else to drink. Personally, I hate the beer these kids drink but there's not much I can do about that. I've told my mom I've had beers before and she offers me a drink sometimes when she's making one sometimes. We actually had a talk about it last night. A bunch of kids from my school got caught and suspended and I told her that's exactly why I don't like going to dances and she praised me for being such a good kid. I got caught smoking last year and she was more pissed about that even though it's alot less dangerous than alcohol.

I think my parents know i drink, and don't care. I've never actually came out and told them i drink, and they've never questioned me about it. I say they must know because really, what else is a 17 year old doing when he comes home at 3 am?
I know my dad wouldnt care because he was a party animal in high school. Don't think my mom would care either. She wouldnt say, oh i dont care if you drink, but she wouldnt be mad if i did.
1 more year till i can drink legally anyway, need to start getting warmed up.

Same. My mom just says "make good choices, come home alive." Ive never came home beligerantly drunk, so she knows at least I can pace myself and lets me make my own decisions.

My parents don't care if I drink... like last night my dad asked if I would need a ride home or if I was just going to crash at my friends.  And smoking ganj... my dad knows I toke and doesn't care that much, but if my mom found out.. she would probably be pissed but since im 18 going to college in the fall they don't really punish me for that kind of stuff anymore.

havent really discussed it with them, ive been caught and they didnt get me in trouble

they really seem to be worried more about my drinking than smokin becuase i dont drink very responsibly. actually, i  think i  might quit drinking  after the mess i was the last couple times

They surprise me. They don't care what I do as long as I don't drive drunk or high.

I was playing 'ruit with my friends at one of their houses, and the next morning she calls and tells me to come home (I said I was somewhere else, and she checked there), so I get home, and just say "I was playing beirut-- beer pong with my friends" and I didn't get in trouble.

But she also busted my party earlier this year, and took my bong.

Where do you live and how do I get there?

and ya it was wierd I tried to pace myself and started drinking when everybody else was, and when they were jumping and rolling all over the place, it hadn't kicked in yet for me, then when we started walking over to her other house 2 hours later I was full on drunk, on two shots of vodka.

Is there like anyway I could speed up my sobering for future occasions?

oh and thanks for all the advice and stories.

18 only drank once. parents dont know. but my dad kinda thinks i do anyways cuz he randomly asks me how often i drink sometimes and hes always like, we gotta have a beer together sometime. so i really dont think my parents would care as long as i dont drive(which i would never do anyway). and if i do care i know for a fact that my mom drank a lot in hs b/c she lived in PA, but like 5 minutes from NJ where the drinking age was 18 at the time

well im 18 now, but when i was a little younger, i tried to keep it a secret from my parents, but i cant lie im just a real honest person, so when my mom would ask me if i had been dirnking i would tell her yes, but th eperson that was dirving me around was completly sober and had no alcohol. So her and my dad were always finew with that as long as i was not driving. And my dad was actually playing beer pong with me this past weekend so that was pretty dope. So as long as im responsible and not driving its ok with them.

haha same boat for me.

a year later and i just realized burning is more fun. alcohol is an occasional treat, as for my parents, drinking and smoking are definately negatives.

i emailed my dad a video when i was in mexico with my friend and his family and we were all super wasted. he thought it was funny tho so no problems for me. other then that i just don't let them catch me

yea, my parents are alright with me drinking as long as i dont get way plastered and puke. they actually buy me beer all the time now, just not hard stuff. they're chill with drinking, just not blazing or smoking, they'll kill me bout that stuff.

way to be honest. my parents are totally chill with me drinking most the time. I started at 15, but I was in Germany at the time for 4 months. anyone that says 15 is way to young is full of shit, for many maybe. just be responsible. Know your limits. I think I have had 1 bad experience drinking. havnt drank that much since. be smart, dont get caught. and stay honest with your parents. have them trust you. If you dont do anything wrong they will probably be fine with it. If you fuck up more then once they might not trust you. so ya keep the trust. be responsible, and have fun.

and maybe try to develp a taste for good beer. You dont neccessarily have to chug beer all the time. its cool to just have a beer or two to enjoy, not neccessarily to get drunk. German beers are the best, buy them if you can. and some other beers are pretty good to, fat tire, esb, there are a bunch. Any questions on how to acquire stuff etc. pm me. I was able to pull it off in stores at 16..yes in the US.

my parents used to be pretty gay about drinking, theyd like get in my face when i would come home shitfaced...but after freshman year at college they know i drink and dont really care too much as long as i dont drive...my dad gives me beers from time to time too.

im 18 and drinking has never been a problem but shit man you guys need to be learning new tricks on how to sneak into your houses and be sly when ur shitfaced...once  at a dinner party that i had no idea was going on at my house, i walked in just shitfaced and talked like i was on speed and slurring but my parents were luckily drunk themselves so they didnt notice... also ive been just completely bombed in the near presence of my parents but concealed it, and as for house parties, my bro has always been there to have my back, hes 22 now, he would say he drank the beers in the fridge and etc.

Nothing has ever really happened lol, they get pissed over smoking weed which i do extremely rarely but even then ive been just a warrior avoiding the parents and now im legal so who gives a shit. I was only worried about this kind of stuff until i was half way thru being 16 and then it was all aboard the drunk wagon.

as for how i turned out : I get good grades(got maybe because im addicted to ns now), i am chill, dont have any brain damage from drinking yet...ummm i enjoy walks in the park and lil wayne, so yeah ftw

well i am 18 so i can legally drink but my parents have always just wanted me to be safe. ie no drunk driving and call them for a ride home instead of sleeping on the street kinda thing.

My parents are so chill about this stuff. They are openly aware I smoke and drink, and as long as my grades stay up and I don't get into shit I'm good to go. I love it.

my parents don't care too much. they aren't thrilled if i drink at parties but they taught me to drink responsibly when i was growing up like they let me have a little sip here or quarter cup there but so far i haven't done anything stupid so they don't worry

I thought my mom was too, and for that day she was cool. Today however, she gave me that whole responsibility talk and she goes on to tell me I could get expelled if my teachers found out, get THEM in trouble, and also get the whole school in trouble along with me and my friends.

THEN, she goes on to tell me that if she finds me drinking again she'll ground me for the whole summer, and to tell my friends not to drink. She thinks I lost to peer pressure and was forced to drink, when I did it on my own will.

So its not like I'm gonna stop drinking, I'll just lay low for a while but now I can't be honest with her cuz I know she's not cool with it anymore. WTF

Anyways, sorry for the rant and anyone have good was to quickly sober up or tricks you use to drink when your parents AREN'T cool with it.?

Just don't drink then. It's pretty simple. If you don't know your limits and can't control yourself enough around your parents then it would be retarded to drink.
