New ski game, inspired by the TGR Tracks game

Give'r a go and let me know how it runs. On PC, IE 6 seems faster than Firefox. Can someone on a Mac tell me if it runs smoothly in Safari?

I'm hoping this works well on most people's computers so I can start adding more stuff in.

The new update is really really good

I have one suggestion

Im not sure if it has been suggested before.  I read some pages but Im to lazy to read all 15.  If you have answered this disregard.

You should have a slow spin button.  that would be sweet.  Thats all

i agree with the guy above though if you can do one thing on the next update make a slow spin button! the spins with flips are too ridiculous. super fun game though thanks man

Quazbotch, its kinda hard to explain, i've been looking for a video but ehhhhh.

basically just a slash turn. even if you made it so that its a seperate key that makes you do it, even just make a butter/revert key so that when you press it he rotates as he proceeds down. that way, we could tap it and make it look like a sliding/slashing turn, or hold it to make it look lik ehe butters off cliffs.

hey bro AWESOME game, really appreciate the effort to make it.

i would suggest adding in points as this would add a fair bit of playability to it, trying to beat your own score for a run/trick would keep me entertained for a fair bit longer.

I'm anti-scores in Gnarshmallow because there is no way everyone will ever agree on what should be worth how many points. I don't want to encourage people to start skiing certain ways just to please the game's score counter. It is Freesking after all. I will eventually be putting some stuff in that rewards clean landings and being versatile, but it is quite different from points.

I am working on slower spins and a bunch of stuff most people won't notice but needs to be done because the code is getting messy.

You will be able to start a spin by turning as you leave a jump. It comes out kind of corked which is rad. If you go straight off a jump, tapping the spin key once will slowly turn you 90 or 180. Holding down the spin key will make you spin faster. Either way it might take another 90 to 180 for you to actually stop spinning. Flips/loops will be similar.

MY FAVOURITE GAME EVER



Thanks you so much for ruining my uni marks end of semester.
I just spent an hour or so making such a sick cliff line, and trying to barely butter of the top of them...
But seriously, every time I picture a good skiing game, I see some fun pow effects, and pretty much fuckign around trying to do steezy stuff. This is perfect.
Please don't put in a 'score', except as an optional thing.

What you should do is make it so you can see other skiiers, and give people props or something ;)
But I assume you don't have all day to code stuff like that.

Also I don't think you should put in controls for things like slow spin etc. It would just complicate it.

If people want to do that, have it so the later you press spin once your in the air, the slower you spin, and if you hit sideways a little earlier, you spin faster. maybe have it slow down at the end as well to make those ridiculous spins harder- and timing the landings would be harder too, especially if you make it so you keep momentum.

you can fake it out if you do half a back then half a front, it says you still do a backflip

and maybe add some grabs

o.. ok sorry.. and something that would also be cool... but is rather minor.. is that i think it would be sweet if when you turned going switch the skis would change with the turn like carving in real life..
so when you are switch and you go left, 1 ski up 1 down, and then right would be other ski up then other ski down..

That would be freakin sweet! I had that switch stance staggering working last month for a little while, and then I realized the model of the skier was turning inside out when it switched to the right shoulder. Basicly part of the skier turned invisible. It is something wacky about the code I'm using for the 3D skier. It has been a little while, so there might be a fix now... hmm... thanks for reminding me about that one!

Hey, what about adding some effects to cliffs and cornices where the snow can shear off and roll down the slope, making lines as the snowballs gather? It would also be really sweet for a cornice or two just fail when the dudes ontop and make a massive snow slide...

What could be fairly easy to transfer, is maps of parks, from a birds eye view like in this game, but instead of cliffs and cornices there would be jumps and rails and such features. Expecially if you have the sick jibbin spinning mechanism and multiple grabs.

Wow this game has come so far. I remember sitting down at the beginning of the summer and reading this thinking hmm whats this. Now its a Newschoolers landmark. This game just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work

Avalanches are... hard. For me to make, and your computer to draw. I wouldn't count on those happening any time soon.

Clear yer browser caches, new build is up!

Spin/flip/loop control is more Jibbin like and it seems to work pretty well. Those guys are smart.

Skier leans into turns a bit. Skier alternates shoulders while skiing switch. Trick names are rounded to nearest 180 and 'switch' isn't cut off when you do a switch spinny grab trick. A pillow line has been added. Trick names take advantage of pillow lines. Full screen view should be more centered. Enjoy!

^^Just hit the spin button a little bit later, and you'll spin slower.

Love the update, turns looks really good now, and slow spins are fun to play with. switch skiing looks better too, and would lok even better if the skis switched i little bit smoother, if you know what i mean.

AMAZING new update!

some recomendations:
if you could make it so when you carve off the jump you get a little more corked that would be great...
also i'm thinking that u shouldn't just make it restart when u fall, it would be sick if you could see him falling down the slope! also i think that u should add more grabs... maybe a park! rails
the pillow line is great! maybe different views.?. and it would be cool if you could edit how deep the pow is.

sorry for the little rant!

great update as i already said but something real simple would be a button that would switch you from going forwards to switch.. like jibbin... sorta a pain to have to turn all the way around to go switch/forwards.. keep it up man
