so i got a new HD and ram for my macbook pro. i got the ram in allright, but im not too sure how to go about the hard drive. here is what i was thinking:
backup my current HD with time machine or w/e the one is that comes with the mac
get new HD in, reinstall osx, and upgrade to leopard (i have all the discs for that)
use my file from time machine (the backup) and put that all on my new HD
before i do this, will it work?

unless your using an external HD it won't work. If you back up your compt with time machine it needs to be on a seperate harddrive, otherwise where else would it go?

you need to have leopard first to use time machine. Otherwise the plan should work.

^ oops haha. already opened it.
i have an external HD, and already have leopard.
btw i got a 320 gig HD and 4 gigs of ram. now i can edit videos with way more ease, and not have to store everything on an external HD

Get a USB or Firewire 2.5" enclosure and hook the new HD up to the computer in that (before you remove the old one). You need to clone your current HD to the new one then you can swap them. I don'y use Macs a lot so I don't know what programs are best but there's loads of stuff online. You'll probably even find a step by step on YouTube. Removing a MBP HD isn't as straightforward as a lot of laptops though, so I'm told.
