Question about buying a Macbook Pro off Apple's website

Alright so I'm getting a Macbook Pro and I was planning on ordering straight off Apple's website.. and I noticed that there was a deal like, "buy a mac for college and get a free ipod touch". Unfortunately, I'm only going to be a senior in high school next year, but I went through the order process for the college discount and it makes you fill out a buyer agreement and shit saying that you really go to a certain college.
My question is if I just fill it out for some random college am I going to get shit for it? I'm just not sure what stops anybody from trying to get the discount / free ipod touch.. It's just that I'm dropping $2,800 for this laptop so I really wouldn't mind that ipod touch.

Yeh they don't require to much, but I believe they make you pick up the touch at a local shop.
They aren't gonna throw you in jail over it, just go for it man.

you won't get fined. apple verifies your enrollment in college though. they typically ask for the college you go to and your student id number. periodically they call schools up to verify.

Either you can get the money from the mail-in rebate or get the iTouch.

I don't know what got the price up to 2800 but if any of that is extra RAM don't buy it through Apple. Buy it aftermarket and install it yourself. Wayyyyy cheaper and all of it is under warranty instead of only half of the sticks.

yeah i just got the basic 2.4 ghz but with a few upgrades plus a $350 3 year warantee and service plan shizz it's 2,800.. it was a birthday present from my parents so i really don't care about those extra few expenses, otherwise i'd just install it myself.

ususally just buying a refurbished mac off the website is cheaper than any student discount

I bought an Imac yesterday from the apple store and showed the guy my high school ID, and he gave a student discount. This was before the Ipod touch thing, so I'm sure it would still work. Also, if you can I'd do it directly from apple because they have super good warrantys about their computers that they sell

i think there is a difference between the student discount you got and the ipod deal (which is technically a $299 mail in rebate). the ipod deal is specifically for college students as a part of their new ad campaign towards college students and the incoming freshman that are just graduating high school and will get laptops as grad presents. haven't they always had a student discount that applied to high school students as well?
could be wrong though
