Center mounting LINE Chronics...Good Idea...Bad Idea?

I got the 07/08 Chronics for super cheap and i was wondering if anyone has a preference of having them center mounted or not. I know they aren't completly symetrical like the Invaders, but do they still ride good if you center mount them.
If you have some Chronics give me your opinion.

what are you going to be using them for? the only reason to center mount is if you're riding almost all park, and chronics are an all mountain ski anyways. i wouldn't go center.

well i'm just using them for park cause i already have my Elizabeths for everything else...I've just gotten so used to the center mount beacuse of my Invaders. Is it really going to change the ride of the ski if i center mount it

i have a pair of 08 chronics and they are mounted at whatever the factory mark is
im not sure what that is though lol.
they ride pretty well like that.
the chronics are a directional ski so they advise not center (on the vid for them)

mounting at anything other than recommended is the stupidest thing in the world. it completely throws off the geometry of the ski and in NO case makes the ski perform better... just mount it at recommended

Always personal preference man.. but, I would never center mount a ski that wasn't true twin.. they don't put those reference lines on the ski for nothin... Just think how sad you will make that jolly hippy ski shaper at line if you center mount a ski that wasn't shaped to be center mounted..

i had the 06/07 mounted recommended and now i have the 07/08 mounted at center. only center mount them if you will only be skiing ALL park with them. they are a great park ski when center mounted, nice and stiff (no homo) with lots of pop. it will change the performance of the ski, but it is nothing you cant get used to, and the benifits of a center mount for park outweigh the negatives

the core center isnt even that far back to begin with, so they perform pretty $$$ at center. i rocked mine at center till they snapped, they ever were fine on a pow day, though admittedly, i was doing 180s off cliffs the whole day.

exactly, minus 2 is pretty much perfect for a park all mountain ski, it still kills the park but u maintain more of the designed flex pattern and it fits the shape better. unless it is made for center mount

Ok i only want to know if you actually have some Chronics and center mounted how they ride. I want testimonials

clifford speaks the truth
friends don't let friends center mount skis that aren't built to be center mounted.

they're only considered "all mountain" cause they're stiffer for parks ski, though you really wont be wanting to ski an 85 waisted ski in the pow, it's just not practicle. you can still hold an edge fine when they're centered, though the evened out swing wait and increased stability on switch landings outweighs what loss of edge control you loose by moving the mounting point in front of the sidecut, IMO. and as i said, the core center isn't even that far behind true center. that's how i like to ski them, and i was happy with how they performed until they snapped.

im sorry but chronics are not all mountain park skis. the only reason line puts them in that category is because they are not symmetrical and are stiffer. idk anyone who would buy chronics as an all mountain ski. an all mountain twin tip is the PE, foil, blend, etc all with more sidecut and wider

How far back is the recommended line from true center?

You know... if youre thinking about it. Just do it. If you dont liek it, or whatever, you can always remount without hurting the ski, and if you do like it... well even better.
But in the end, these wont be the last skis you buy, and center mounting doesnt really effect your all mountain riding IMO, so, why not try it, youre just going to buy new skis one day and know for sure right?

chill, he's using them for park only though, so he might as well centermount them. just because they're non symmetrical doesn't mean they won't perform well centermounted. there are tons of asymmetric skis that people centermount- dumonts, addicts, fujis, silencers, extremes, AR6s...just to name a few. line just markets them as an all mountain ski because they have two symmetrical skis for park, and they're slightly stiffer.
armada markets their el reys as all mountain skis, but TJ used them for most of last years comps. u can bet they were centermounted.
i'm sure if he'd had another choice he would have bought symmetrical skis, but apparently he got these for super cheap.
my question is...why are you getting chronics and extremes...aren't they like really similar all mountain/park skis?

i live in CT so im center mounting mine. the most "powder" that we get is about 3 inches of thick wet snow so centering mine is no big deal

id imagive they would be really sick center, like the AR6.. i had like 5 people tell me not to center, but i did, and i dont regret it 1 bit. do it even if youre gonna ski like 50% all mtn and / or a lot of riding switch.. trust me. its all good

Even for park, I'd go an inch or two back. They ski so well mounted there.

Chronics are only 2mm off from being perfectly symmetrical, go center for park. You'll love it.

bumping a really old thread but i just got mine back and they are sick. and to answer your question,it depends on what size. i ranges from about 4.5 to 6. i have 181s and recommended is 62 mm (6.2cm) back, which is real far back, at least in my opinion

the chronics is 85mm underfoot, it's stiff and it's deffinatly a park ski.
So center mount, everything else would be retarded.
