50-50% freeride/racing boots?

alright so this a question mostly for people on here who race on their spare time. i race for my school so i can ski on the weekdays, but i ski a lot of park and everything else on the weekend and when i'm not racing. i need new boots and i'm looking for something stiff enough for racing (i raced with a 75 flex boot all season), but won't give me shinbang or rape my feet too bad in the park. so for people who race also- what boots do you use?

right now i'm thinking technica race 110, head S13s or the new salomon ghost boot, but any other suggestions would be great. if i get a list of good boots then i can go to some bootfitters, try them all on before next season and see which works best.

by the way i'm 6' 3'' and about 170 lbs if that makes any difference.

I would say just get a full on race boot if they fit right you should not get any toe/shin bang. Plenty of pros use race boots in the park.
If you do want a more free ride based boot The Lange Banshe Pro is going to be sick next year. 130 or 135 flex.

nordica blower, bitches are sexy. dobermann mold, strong flex, plenty of shock absorption, plus plugs in teh back that u can pull out to make it softer.

technica race 130s


i race them in FIS and also ski a whole lot of park/piste/bc with them. but be sure that they fit.

i am 6'1 and 174 pounds and i could easily ski a 150 flex when racing. therefore the 130s are good to go.


maybe look out for an older model (06/07). might be cheaper. 07/08s were stiffer and with laces if i remember correctly.

Softer race boots can be good for park and racing.

I've used the atomic rt cs series for a while and they did the job for me.

just make sue your comfy in them and dotn buy them too soft since you cant make a boot stiffer but you can make it softer.

i had lange comp 120s last season and rode park on em too, no problem. def make sure theyre a good fit, thats the biggest factor.

If you are serious about your racing I would recommend buying a race boot and a park boot, the performance from a plug boot will improve your racing big time.  If you really don't have the budget for two pairs, see if the dalbello kryptons fit you.  They accomodate up to around a C width comfortably and fit an A-B width really well.  Get the krypton pros.  Kryptons offer the floating tougne technolody.  They are laterally stiff and come with two different tougnes.  One tougne is soft for park/freeride, the other is stiff.  The boots also come with these skeleton like pieces that you can fit in the back of the cuff that stiffen it up tremendously.  As long as you don't mind spending a few minutes changing tougnes and if they fit you its a good choice.

I just got the Rossi Bandit B-Squad- flex like 115.  I ski park about 75% of the time and I love them.  They are sorta hard to get used to especially after a softer boot.  I had Solomon's with a 75 flex before.  They still work fine though.. don't really cuase any more shin bang.  The only drawback is they are much more unforgiving if you don't get a truck just right.

alright all these suggestions look great i'm making a list, hopefully ill be able to try all these on before next season. keep 'em comin.

i'm not that serious about racing, i just do it so i can ski on the week days and train out west once a year. and i'd get a full, all out race boot that fits really well, but i'm more worried about the forward stance they give you and how that might be for park/skiing switch. but i'll try some on and see what i think.

you can always adjust the forward lean but i'd get a race specific boot with a lower flex index as opposed to the other way around, you know my stand on the tecnica race 110
